  1. Refinishing Copper

Are you sure they are copper and not just painted or anodized? It would be very unusual to have a sign cabinet made from real copper - it's too soft. If it is, indeed, real copper, an aircraft stripper will take the clear off - it will also discolor the copper, which you'll need to polish back...
  2. Fabricated Monument sign

Like the sign, not liking the posts. Too wavy in the forms. I understand its poured concrete, but I may have elected to wrap a thin piece of aluminum around them to smooth it out. Or done the Sonotube route and smoothed out the ridges after it set.
  3. Reflexite Tape Chevron Striping

Ok.. with the winds howling as they are here, I doubt I could fasten the board anywhere and have it stay, at least outside. So, a long hallway darkened as far as I could is going to have to do. Camera is an older digital SLR on automatic settings, using the camera flash. Nothing else was added...
  4. Reflexite Tape Chevron Striping

I do. I'll shoot some photos tonight when it gets dark.
  5. Reflexite Tape Chevron Striping

Not as pricey as the DG3. But... I found an outlet for cut rolls of DG3 for less the price of the Reflexite. A 6" x 50yd roll of red runs about $350.00. PM me for the website details.
  6. Reflexite Tape Chevron Striping

Reflexite reflective vinyl itself. Just seemed "cheap" to me. I honestly never applied any of it to see how it performed, but I had gotten in some large-ish samples to compare against the 3M DG3 and a standard reflective as the Reflexite claims to have the same reflective property as the DG3...
  7. Reflexite Tape Chevron Striping

http://www.colebrothers.com/ I've asked for short pieces before and they had no problem offering them. Not real impressed with the overall product, though.
  8. Preventative maintenance (dust buildup) and how I did it.

I like the heat register filter idea! My printer is clean... my cutter, on the other hand, has never been opened in the 15 years I've owned it. I'm afraid to see what's in there.... :-)
  9. Treading lightly... Avery reflective thoughts

Both Advantage and Beacon carry the burgundy, Jill. Advantage is far closer to me that I frequently stop in for materials - I can check to see if there is a date stamp on the rolls. I have a printer, but there will be too much to print and laminate economically (it's a fleet job). Downingtown...
  10. Treading lightly... Avery reflective thoughts

Hi gang, I've got a job that is requiring an odd reflective color - burgundy, to be exact. Too much to print, lam and cut, so I started looking outside of 3M, FDC and Oracal, all of which don't offer a burgundy reflective. The first one that came up was Avery.. and available locally at my...
  11. Window Frosting – Help! Need Some Info / Insight

Yep, you'll be fine. I agree with Southpaw to make sure the salon has every hair cleaned up from the area. When you start, you'll likely create some static peeling the vinyl that will attract every loose fiber. Soak the windows and soak the vinyl as you peel it from the liner and have at it. A...
  12. Back of fire truck

It's always reflective, and usually DG3 material. If it's a new truck it'll come from the factory that way. If it's a retrofit, you'll need to find out from the department what level reflective they are required to have in your area. DG3, I think, is now nationally required, or an equivalent...
  13. Help, my Mutoh Falcon Outdoor Jr. wont print any color

What are you using as a connection between the printer and the computer - what type of cable? Seems to be on the computer end rather than the printer itself. Check/try a new cable and all the connection points. And your nozzle test certainly isn't fine - I see quite a few missing nozzles in there.
  14. Rivets Vs. Screws

Your bit would tear up the vinyl putting the screws back in. I've always removed them as well. Only by request of the customer did I ever come back and paint them a similar color to the vinyl under it.
  15. Alsa matte black

The only things I would purchase from that company (and have) is some of their specialty paints. That being said, I needed a quart to do a touch up on a project that was a few years old, and I was told that particular color was no longer available. Anymore, I'll only purchase their paint...
  16. aluminum glue ,which one is better 3m 8116 vs lord 406/19? where to buy?

Ok.. having to agree with FS above about the screen name. A good TIG welder would do you wonders. But as for the adhesive, my go-to is 3M's 8115 panel bond for the automotive industry. Nice set time and once dry very little will break the bond.
  17. aluminum glue ,which one is better 3m 8116 vs lord 406/19? where to buy?

While I question why you need to solidly join telescoping pipe, I have to agree with Stanton. Why not simply use a solid piece? If you need them to telescope, as many trade show booths need, why not drill a series of holes to place a through-pin into and make it truly portable?
  18. Brushed Metal Plaque Like This?...

Looks like Rowmark engraving stock to me..
  19. Mounting prints to aluminium composite... How do you do it?

Cut your panels to size and slightly oversize your prints. Apply and trim the excess. No need to overthink this..
  20. Transferring Stickers from one release paper to another

Ok, silly question: if your client is going to have his brand name on the liner, would it be just as easy to flip the vinyl over and print his brand on the liner, then just as simply flip and cut what needs cut?
