  1. Dealing with a client that doesn't pay. What to do???

Another lesson learned... get at least half up front and make sure that half at least covers your cost of materials. We've all been burned. I've even learned my lesson and then been burned by customers who usually pay. Bottom line, cover your a$$ first. I wouldn't have done the layout without a...
  2. Versaworks reinstalled, no cutlines now! HELP PLEASE

You actually have to name your process spot color "CutContour" and it's case sensitive. For perf cut, you name the spot color "PerfCutContour".
  3. Roland SP 540 Versacamm question...

If you turn it completely off with the switch in the back, then yes, the heads can dry out. If you leave the main power switch on and let the printer go to sleep, it will periodically cycle itself on to keep the ink flowing through the heads.
  4. Wall Noodle question

Insignia, any solution for this project yet? I'm doing a permanent mural on a 12'x9' wall this week. It's going in a children's area of a church. It's a painted sheetrock surface with no texture added. I was thinking of just using 3M 180c-v3. Thoughts?
  5. printer/copier for business cards

If you want a weatherproof card, order yourself 1,000 14pt card stock business cards with UV coating on both sides from GP or any other wholesale printer. They will set you back about 15 bucks plus shipping from GP. Take one card and leave it outside for a month. It will survive sun, rain...
  6. printer/copier for business cards

I understand that you want to "scratch that niche"... but you'd better have a pretty big niche to justify the expense. We outsource like most everyone else does. However, we have a local printer in Houston specifically for business cards with free next day delivery if the art is submitted before...
  7. Window Perf

We only use ClearShield liquid laminate on our perf jobs. There are too many drawbacks to using an optically clear lam... not cost effective view is distored even with "optically clear" laminate laminate shrinks/expands at a different rate than perf causing edge curl
  8. GRRRRR I hate banner vinyl...

We've been using Key 13oz matte from Grimco for 95% of the banners we print for over a year. Haven't had a single problem with it yet.
  9. More Recent Wraps...

This was a fun one to design. Install was a breeze... one long horizontal piece for the sides, even with the 54" printer.
  10. More Recent Wraps...

More fun stuff. Artwork provided on these. Just tweaked a few things, printed and installed.
  11. printer choice

Roland vp540 here and I haven't seen another wrap in town that I feel can match our print quality. The speed if the vp540 is very bearable.
  12. SP-i vs VP

Also, I believe the VP comes with a 2 year warranty and the SP only has 1. I was faced with the exact same decision 2 years ago and I chose to go with the VP. You will thank yourself in the end on way or another. The increase speed alone is well worth it.
  13. Low pricing.

    This thread is ridiculous.
  14. What should I pay an installer?

Neither should lead to inadequate quality if managed correctly.
  15. What should I pay an installer?

Post in the Premium section and I'll be glad to tell you the going rates for freelance installers in my neck of the woods. I will say that paying a contract installer by the hour is a bad idea. You should pay by the square foot on a sliding scale depending on complexity of the install.
  16. More Recent Wraps...

ProWraps I think you misread me in that other thread. The guy's question was not very clear. I didn't realize until much later than he was asking about removing door handles, mirrors, etc. when we are asked to remove vinyl from a wrapped car. It's a silly question anyway. If we're willing to...
  17. More Recent Wraps...

Thanks Allen. Yup, these are all done with 180c v3 and 8519. Haven't had any reason to try the 380 yet.
  18. ProWraps Shop Truck Finally Done

AHHHHHH RED ON BLACK, RED ON BLACK! I can't believe no one has pointed out your usage of red text on a black background! That is a NO NO! Kidding man. It looks sweet. Great job.
  19. More Recent Wraps...

Sign Works: Awesome question! It was only a matter of time before someone noticed that. Sure enough the stripes carrying on to the rear tailgate area are a seperate piece printed and overlayed on top of the wrap. It was the only way to get it perfect. Even then we had to draw a template on each...
  20. More Recent Wraps...

The door handles? Those are removed prior to installing the vinyl... along with side mirrors, window rubber, emblems, etc.
