Dont need a service contract with mine. You BECOME the mechanic for it. Almost everything is self servicible on it. Call up our tech support and they will walk you through it. We replace heads on our own...calibrate...all that fun stuff. It really is important in my opinion to be capable of...
it almost sounds like something called WET BANDING. You may be overloading the Ink onto the substrates. Check your rip settings for the total ink or max ink. Certain substrates can accept more ink load vs. others. Otherwise it is a step or feed issue. If it says its tuned correctly, you may...
with the flatbeds you need to be careful with how much total ink youre putting down as well. we had an issue with not enough cure energy and the black flaked off in areas. Be careful and check your MAX INK settings. We actually have ours at 200-220% Total. (meaning all 4 inks combined would...
wow....you guys have your heads set quite high. Im printing on a Vutek Pressvu 200 at .070 or thereabouts. Why is it such an issue with the colorspans to keep the head heights so high?? We get no overspray....and rarely a strike.
My suggestion....get a Rip for it. The computer you can build is faster that that of the on-board cpu. Once the rip station chews thru it...much faster...it starts to print a lot faster too. Usually you have better control of color as well as nesting capabilities.
FIngerprints are always an issue....takes soo much time to clean boards after we get them in. Its not our handling...but when they come from the supplier...Usually isoprpyl...have been looking to try the Denatured soon on the PVC. thats the toughest it seems.
Ive got a Vutek PV 200/600 and its been rock solid for me. Ive learned the quirks of the machine over the past 10 months!! Now its producing awesome prints...let me know if you ever need to discuss issues. Always good to bounce things around like that...
Bulk Ink is not possible with my flatbed...my plan is to get a very accurate mailing scale to measure the weight of it at various points.
It IS a heck of a lot easier on my Solvent 3360...Bulk ink there is Beautiful.
We're having really good results on the PV 200 Flatbed with the styrene. Being careful with lamp strength on the thinner .020 stuff...but .040 & .060 is printing very nicely.
Welcome from Dirty Jerz!
Instead of using a sled...try some "butcher paper". You get the excess lam on the paper instead of the sled. Protects the rollers better as well. Ive got a Royal Soverign and it works well that way.
Hey CG...im not going to risk a $5k Head hitting a .01¢ grommet and screwing it up. I'll wait till after the banner is printed to grommet the thing. Besides, most banner we run is roll to roll, trimmed down and then heat sealed on the Miller Weldmaster.
as for the Mac...if its running OS X....its a snap to add into the network. If you need to copy files TO it from a windows machine...its trickier. But if youre looking to get files from the PCs to it, its a breeze to do.
Hiker is a bit heavy...but pricing was right for me and works great. Also able to use it with some cheapie grommets I had cases of. Made the investment for me worthwhile. Probably going to get another one soon.
