    Test it with a really simple file--like just a colored rectangle, saved as an eps file. We find the inability to auto-rotate is file-dependent. They will auto-rotate about 80% of the time.

    That comes from what I said in another answer. The solvents in the ink actually "melt" the vinyl, making it kind of pucker up.

    Actually, there are 9 of the colors that are 3 year life. And all metallics are also reduced life.

    It's more than the thickness of the ink. It's the effect of the ink solvents on the vinyl itself.
