  1. Looking for Oracal 3551 RA or similar to fit my 1204

BigFish, very gracious of you - but shipping would probably kill that scenario. (Unless I'm missing something) Todd, I don't see 3551 anywhere on SW's site. (I do see 3951 and 3651)
  2. Looking for Oracal 3551 RA or similar to fit my 1204

Have been looking around for someone who sells Oracal 3551 RA or something similar in a high performance calendared vinyl with air egress to fit my VJ-1204. (Would use this for box truck wraps and flat stuff.) *I know it can be cut down, but Fellers wants another $65 to slit it - which...
  3. Profile for Oracal 3641 on 1304/Wasatch?

I've been using the generic 720x720 gloss vinyl setting - works fine.
  4. Need Plotter advice....

If budget is no constraint I would get a Summa. Don't know if you'd really need the more expensive features like tangential heads, etc. - I would think with the Zund you'd have that covered. Get a D140 or D160 - easy to use, bullet proof and best tech support in the biz.
  5. Desktop Printer -What do you use?

I prefer laser because of speed and overall lower costs and maintenance to operate long term. Also, you don't have to worry about liquids (rain, etc.) causing the ink to smear like the majority of water-based inkjets.
  6. Desktop Printer -What do you use?

A lot will depend on what you use your desktop printer for, what size you need it to print and how much you use it. MF devices are great if you have the need to make copies or scan/fax things - I have a scanner, and both B&W and color copiers at my shop so don't need one. In my case, I use a...
  7. Dealing with Crazy + Angry Customers

Physical threats whether over the phone or internet are illegal. If you really want to push it, just call your local police dept. and file a report. They'll be happy to go arrest the nut-job and make his/her life miserable for a while. *My wife just did that earlier this week at her job...
  8. Thinking about selling my equipment

Very sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. I have seen more than 3 cases within Ohio where someone bought the Fellers Gold or Platinum packages and then was selling them off within a year of purchase. I think too many were sold on the idea that if you had a wrap business the money would...
  9. Praise for Summa USA

Loooooove my Summa! Great machine and yes, their tech-support is fantastic. When I got mine I had some issues with setting up for contour cuts and also was having an intermittent problem with communication via the USB cable. Like Pat said, you call and talk to a real tech that sounds knows...
  10. ONYX or Wastach? HELP!

FWIW - I've been running Wasatch with the cut module since last fall. Overall it's a solid RIP but doesn't have a lot of extra frills like some other RIPs do. However, it's been rock-solid for me and processed every file I've thrown at it even printing smooth gradients directly exported from...
  11. looking at an old cutter

Chris, lots of these older cutters have gone overseas/out of country because of the safety issues. However all legalities aside, I know of several local small shops that still use machines like this one. Parts will be difficult to find, though rest easy they don't make 'em like this anymore...

  13. Mutoh/Valuejet 1204 Full waste tank not full! Please Help!

Hmm, usually when you pull it and put it back in it asks if you have replaced it with new and you say yes, and off you go.
  14. Problems With orcal???

Been using 3164 on lots of my temp projects. Have had no issues as you describe, but I just got a new roll in last week sitting on the floor un-opened. Maybe a bad batch?
  15. Gotprint, Banner printing. Anyone use them for this?

Scar, I believe Merritt would be a good option for you. Much closer, good quality, fast shipping. I've used them several times in the past and would use them again on very large projects where my printer might not be as efficient or large enough. Just my .02¢
  16. Net Profit Estimate

So your business plan consists of; 1. Buy vinyl cutter. 2. Figure out what to do with all the gobs of money that gets hurled at you like a stripper at a bachelor party. Intriguing, tell us more...
  17. Invoicing Software

If you only need to worry about pricing for cut vinyl I can suggest GraphxCalc XL. You can download a 15 day trial free. The developer is also a merchant member here. http://www.graphixcalc.com/
  18. Do you Print / Laminate / Cut from home?

Going from a 24" cutter to a 48" printer, 53" laminator and 54" cutter is a big step in required space. Realize each piece of equipment is going to need roughly a 5' x 7' area just to exist in. THEN you need to have the room to actually work/load materials and sometimes let prints/vinyl lay...
  19. Ink drops

I've been able to clean up random drops with a bit of denatured alcohol before the ink has completely set. As for it being dry, use your imagination - but be careful.
  20. Two new questions...

http://www.summa.be/download/oldcut_en.pdf Scroll down to page 1.15 Basically, load a standard cast or calendared vinyl that you use regularly and make a test cut. Look for the vinyl to be cut clean through with a slight indention/mark on the backing paper. If the knife is slitting/cutting...
