  1. Ice Cream Truck Business Cards

I agree with the comments about too much separation between ice and cream - otherwise clean layout and good colors.
  2. 20/20 Ink Problems

Gotcha' I had heard another local shop in my area was running the 440's in their 1304 and having the same problems you describe. I'm sure it's likely a bad batch of chips/cards - I would give them a chance to get it sorted out. The ink savings over the long haul should make it worth it.
  3. 20/20 Ink Problems

What Mutoh printer do you have? If you have a 1204 or a 1304 you're not supposed to use the 440's anyway. I just switched my machine over to 20/20 and so far have been very pleased with the ink - not having the problems you are, but I'm running the 220's.
  4. 23,000 full color labels 4"x4" size - where to print?

Stouse or I've used Label Works for nearly a decade... http://www.labelworks.com/
  5. reason #3546576 why I dont like farmimg work out!!!!

Yup, I used several different sources when I used to farm out my printing. One place did yard signs, but no banners. Another did my banners, but their quality sucked on the yard signs, etc. You have to know what kind of work each place does, and what to expect. Otherwise it will bite you...
  6. Roland CX-500 sale value

Depends on condition, but if everything is in good shape with no problems you should be able to ask anywhere from $1200-$1700 USD. The CX-500 is identical to Roland's current GX-500, except for not having the optical eye for automatic contour cutting. I started with a CX-400 and it was a...
  7. Buying a used plotter ... what should i ask/need to know before

If you spend the time reading all the threads here that reply to this weekly question you'll hear over and over again Graphtec, Summa or Roland.
  8. Best method for removal of old vinyl?

Actually, you can get an aerosol can of aircraft stripper from an automotive store for around $5.00. I believe a quart will run you about $12. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/tech/paint_body/bodywork/0906chp_diy_body_panel_prep/photo_05.html
  9. Best method for removal of old vinyl?

OK, you didn't hear this from me but I once used aircraft stripper to remove old vinyl decals from a 20 year old aluminum boat. Eats it up in minutes. HOWEVER, anything it touches (paint, plastic, vinyl, etc.) is gone! Probably would eat the paint on those window frames. Oh, gotta wear...
  10. Workflow with printer and Plotter

Right, versaworks is Roland software - therefore it only works with Roland hardware. AFAIK..
  11. Summa cutters distributors

I bought my D140 through Trigon Imaging Systems in Cincy. Not sure how the Tekgraf deal has affected them though.
  12. Workflow with printer and Plotter

I would think in order to use Versaworks files you'll need a Roland plotter. I'd be looking at a Gx-300 to match sizes with your SP300 and have the ability to read optical registration marks.
  13. Starting out...with an inkjet?

If you are doing this for a friend it's one thing... However, keep in mind if you are producing work and charging for it you are representing yourself as a professional. If I were in your shoes (which I was 3 years ago) and thinking about starting out, one thing I would be concerned about...
  14. Starting out...with an inkjet?

The vinyl you buy for your Canon is going to be more expensive than the vinyl a solvent printer can print on. Plus, you didn't mention if you had a laminator, or at the least a big squeegee to laminate your print with. If I were in your shoes I would sub this out to someone with a solvent...
  15. Happy Birthday BigDawg!

    Happy birthday guys! Have fun!!!
  16. iPad anyone?

    +1 :thumb:
  17. Gx-300

I don't feel the Graphtec CE-5000 is in the same league as the Roland GX-300. I agree with OP and BobM, as my first cutter was a Roland CX 400 - predecessor to the GX series. The CX/GX series are identical in build and specs, except the GX has the optical registration mark reader. I know some...
  18. Phase VI of the Plasti-Plane project!

Best quote so far of 2010...:clapping:
  19. How long does your RIP take?

Ditto on what GSX said. Wasatch rips files very quickly for me on my older dual core P4 with 4GB of ram. Maybe you need to upgrade your CPU?
  20. Gx-300

If everything is in great shape I'd say that's a good deal. Make sure you do some testing on it to see how everything tracks and cuts. The GX-300 is far superior to the GX-24 in both build and quality and allows you to cut up to 30" rolls. Yes, Cut Studio should work fine. I believe you can...
