Chuck's right. You have to determine what will be the maximum amount you would ever vacuum form and find an ink that can withstand the tension. 3M was supposed to have a vacuum form capable ink to run in Vutek machines, but I don't know how flexible it was. You kind of have to start backwards...
I take it a step further and have an industrial chipper/shredder that we put all our coro, pvc, acrylic, etc. in that is 1/4" and under and it chops the living snot out of it into small manageable chunks. We then take those bags of material to a plastics recycler on a random trip to pick up...
I would suppose that anyone here who sends work to another printer/vendor either because of lack of particular needed equipment, size limitations or sheer capabilites is, in essence, a print broker since they are buying from a wholesaler and marking it up to their clients.
There are plusses...
Mutoh
I have one of the rare (or seemingly so) Mutoh Blizzards and it is a work horse. For doing banners we get just over 600 square feet an hour at 2-pass bidirectional. You can turn the Intelligent Interweaving off and get real close to 800 sq. ft. an hour on a 65" machine - but that is for...
Am I the only one greatly disappointed that the actual situation room is smaller than my guest bedroom and nothing like the techno-wiz place on The West Wing? It looks like they are in a closet...
Yeah... samples don't always turn out fantastic as the demo guys are just trying to crank them out.
I do some gorgeous stuff on acrylic/polycarb.
Take the Top Product stuff with a grain of salt. If you look in this month's issue of Wide Format Imaging under Top Shops - I am number 41.
We...
You should have looked at the CET FK512.
I have a 6x10 bed and 6 colors + 4 heads of dedicated white or you can switch to 2 heads of white and 2 heads of varnish if you so desire. Uses same heads as Oce/Fuji (Konica 512s) and has a 14 picoliter droplet and quality is outstanding. I print to...
And pretty soon all computers will come equipped with a credit card swiper -like at Kinko's -and you can pay to use Photoshop or any other program by the hour
Don't want to get into a long drawn out debate about who makes the best retractors. I have already responded to that question twice now.. I think.
Everyone knocks off everyone else anyway.
I got some emergency stock retractors at last year's SGIA that cost me a whopping $19 each and for a...
I always do a search first, but you have to be able to think like other people to know how the topic was listed...
I searched under "anti-curl" and then again for "retractor media"
What did you search under?
Was wondering how those of you who have them create your pricing structure for cutting/routing for flatbed printing?
Is it by the piece or by the hour and do you always charge for cut path setup/manipulation?
Thanks
Was wondering what everyone uses to print on for a standard retractable banner stand that doesn't curl (media). God... thats horrible sentence structure.
Paper, Banner vinyl, PopUp melinex/polyester, Fabrics, other?
Just curious if there's anything new out there I haven't run across...
If they expect the wrap to last a year and they wreck the car - are they then expecting you to repair for free?
Just job it out to a latex printer and save yourself alot of late nights trying to figure out why Panel A doesn't color match to Panel F and then having to reprint a whole job...
It will print onto anything is what most sales idiots used to try to profess and to a degree it is true... but does the ink adhere well is the question you need to be asking. My flatbed can print up to 4" thick material, but I have never had anyone ask for it. Normally you will print no more...
Only the big 10 foot latex requires a webbed leader of about 54". It doesn't go back and forth to dry and it has to heat up so much to evaporate the water from the ink.
