I am a huge fan of professional NAS devices (instead of servers). Much less administration and most good ones have RAID 1,5, or 10. There are many different sizes and brands (I like the Bufallo TeraStation line), but as with everything else, you get what you pay for.

It is hard for me to justify a quality SSD for any of our systems right now. The price per GB is simply not good vs a RAID "0" array (even VelociRaptors)., As I said before, they are GREAT replacements for single drive or non-RAID systems (such as most notebooks and mass produced desktops)...

Your guess is as good as mine. It has been an issue for a while now. I have my fingers crossed though.

It is really fast, but you have to be sure that your RAID controller can handle that kind of throughput or you will be bottlenecked. Also, the lack of TRIM pass-through is an issue.

It is funny, we are constantly testing these drives and are still a bit weary of them for long-term, professional systems. Don't get em wrong, they can be a great replacement for a single 5,400 or 7,200 RPM drive (especially in a laptop). But when you start comparing them to RAID "0" #s on...

What? That is not exactly what I would have posted on my 11th post here. Way to piss off 99% of the people you are talking to. Why come in here and do that? These are good people making a living... and you seem to think that you are better than them.

It is pretty cool. CS4 has "content aware scaling" and now CS5 is going to have "content aware fill". Not too shabby. Both are amazing. But, if you were using a SignBurst™ computer, you wouldn't have to look at that progress bar nearly as long (if at all). :smile:
