It could be a Photoshop glitch as well or a user setting I suppose. Have you run all of the updates? I show version 11.0.1. I suppose it could be a video card/driver/Open GL thing. I have see Photoshop CS4 do some REALLY odd things if it doesn't agree with the card and/or driver. Video card...
Gotcha! If it works for you, then have at it.
It is true that having a quality computer can allow you to do things that others cannot. I had a customer call a while back with an issue RIP'ing. He designed the file on our computer (Extreme) and went to RIP it on a separate RIP computer...
I have been over this many times. I have even tested this at the printer manufacturers facility with custom profiles built by the RIP manufacturer techs.
There is absolutely a difference between a print at 75ppi and 300ppi. The thing is that in order for my eye to see it, I had to print 1/4"...
The question begs to be asked... Why are you designing trailer wraps at 300ppi at full scale? We have repeatedly tested and found very little improvement between 75ppi and 300ppi (final output on large format printers).
But to answer you question, yes we run 64 Bit Photoshop and run them on...
You should be able to do it with the alt+1234 combinations:
Here is a list.
I don't know how comprehensive it is, but if you can't find what you need, you can search for more combos.
Use Corel, Adobe, Signlab, Omega, Flexi, freeware, or whatever floats your boat.
But my point is, use legitimately licensed software.
Which I am sure that you do Techman.:thumb:
Man oh man... please don't mistake the Internet to be an anonomous place.
Don't use pirated software. It is illegal, immoral, and wrong. I don't care how little you use it. It is stealing, plain and simple.
Using educational and student versions for commercial use is just as illegal and...
I would stay away from "discounted" software.
"Discounted" is usually code for "pirated". There are exceptions, such as legitimate software being resold by the original owner with Adobe's "Certificate of Transfer".
If you own an Adobe product, you may qualify for an upgrade price, depending...
We all have those moments, especially with computers. It is very easy to assume that the problem is more complicated than it really is.
I had a customer call worried because his brand new computer wouldn't turn on. Shipping damage, bad power supply, bad video card, all the normal things...
It could be the explorer.exe process being corrupt.
There are several ways to repair this and I am sure you can find tons of info online.
The explorer process fails once in a while, but usually recovers very quickly. When it does fail, I lose all of my icons, windows, and usually my taskbar...
If it is a driver issue, I have never seen that one.
I would suspect malware first, being that it seems to be "messing with you".
But, I suppose it could be a problem a part of Windows that is not loaded in Safe Mode.
You are usually pretty good with the malware thing. Are you able to run...
Curtis,
I don't think that he can get to that portion of the install if he freezes after F8.
It has been a while since I loaded XP, so I could be wrong.
You can do it from the command line in Recovery Console, but that is more of an advanced road.
I might do a chkdsk from the Recovery...
:U Rock:
I don't take it as rude at all.
Tuning isn't all done at the hardware level. You can tweak Corel to perform at a much higher level than it comes "out of the box".
There are some good suggestions here as well.
I was just asking about the RAM because it begged to be asked...
X3 and X4 run fast and smooth on our systems.
It is all in the tuning!
But if you are only seeing 3GB of RAM, then you are using 32 Bit XP.
If you are using 32 Bit XP, why do you have 6GB installed?
Why not bump up to 64 Bit (XP or Vista) and use all 6GB of RAM?
RAM is not the only thing...
