Polly wanna pixellated parakeet? :) Love....Jill
  2. Etchmark with a sparkle?

I have used both of Oracal's frosted and etched products with very good results. I usually apply them dry unless I'm flooding a big window with something simple. Then I use Rapid Tac 2 to float the vinyl. Their frosted comes in silver or gold as well as colors. Their etched comes in gold or...
  3. Arlo Needs An Entire Body Transplant!

I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain and are going through this again after finally getting better. You are in my thoughts. Love....Jill

  7. how to weld objects in omega?

In GA6.2 I always put a teeny tiny outline on stuff then deleted the original. Love....Jill
  8. Oh boy! I get to do some research tonite on a new cutter.

I went from a Gerber Signmaker 4E (designing with a PC) to a Graphtec CE5000-60. I will never miss the noise and slowness of the Gerber but I sure miss its tracking. The Graphtec is fast, it's nice to use 24" material but I'd never go bigger (vinyl stuff is my secondary, I prefer to paint) I was...
  9. Big sign advice

The church I do the signs for always has their congregational carpenters do the installs. win/win
  10. Big sign advice

Definitely make a new frame. I'd make the sign from Alumalite. I personally have given two signs this past year to a church which I no longer attend. That way I got to choose what went up...I admit that I'm a control freak. But they also hired me to do a job this year and I charged full price.
  11. Logo critique

Nah. Jen is not like that. I think you should do something with the dog heads like Pep Boys. That above the name, with "and Kitty" in the underbelly of the arch. I don't care for the tan coloring in the lettering at all, it may have more pop in just black with the soft grey drop shadow, maybe...
  12. Big sign advice

Not really if you factor in the price of primer and paint, plus finishing the edges etc. I rarely use MDO and I charge more for it than for Alumalite. Also, it's heavy as hell and a PITA to work with.
  13. Big sign advice

Do it cheap or do it right, I'd use aluminum composite and aluminum tubing for the frame. Lightweight yet very sturdy. Don't get me wrong, I do signs for churches all the time. But I hate that poor-mouth "we are a church" crap. It will cost you more time in labor to do wood, and wood will not...
  14. Look Who Stopped By!

That's so cool. Fred you look so sweet, like a teenager sitting with a movie star. :) GG those sharks are about as big as the catfish we pull out of the Mon! Love....Jill
  15. Ever throw yourself under the bus to LOSE a job?

I would have given him a written (very high) estimate the first time I dealt with him. That's all I would have done. I would bill him for the layout (you won't get it) You pretty much gave that away to a hack, and both the "client" and the hack are probably snickering up their sleeves at how...
  16. Painted farm sign.

Thanks. 2D painted signs are my forte. :) I liked the 2nd layout better too but the client wanted BIG farm equipment. Nice to be in SOT again, even just via FB, it's been 10 years I think.
  17. Painted farm sign.

    Design-about 10 minutes Lettering-about 2 hours All that other stuff...about 8 hours
  18. Customer Supplied Substrate Question (plastic)

I unmasked 'em. Easy as pie, masking was some weird tan plastic stuff. Will cut-n-stick tomorrow. I could call, but I have to go to my "real" job now. Thanks again!
  19. Painted farm sign.

Thanks! It's a 4'x8'. Big enough to paint on the dining room table and I needed it finished before Thanksgiving. :)
