  1. Getting our new site ready for 2012.

Thanks guys (and gals). On our blog section, people can leave comments using their Facebook profile. I wasn't sure If I should add that same feature on the portfolio pages. What do you all think? I can see some pros and cons of doing it.
  2. Getting our new site ready for 2012.

I wanted to get some feedback on our new site. This go around I was shooting for something a bit more clean and simplistic. Our primary focus was to showcase the work, especially the design and illustration work. The Diaz Sign Art site will still focus on signs and vehicle graphics. I plan...
  3. Fun kerning game.

I got an 86 the first try. 92 the second. The second test "type". I disagree with though. They have the y and the p too far apart. and the p and the e too close in my opinion.
  4. flash is nearly dead

Good for you. Although I bet only a handful of people share your die hard enthusiasm for boycotting sites with flash. It's a numbers game. If a site has html5, which you seem to support, only 40% of browsers being used will be able to display that content properly. In other words, that's about...

  6. flash is nearly dead

That same thing can be accomplished outside of flash and is. Most of the time that is done with javascript not flash. And you would be a fool to assume that IF html5 replaces flash all of that will some how stop.
  7. flash is nearly dead

Set the sarcasm aside for a moment and put your thinking cap on. First of all Microsoft hasn't "dropped" flash. They are releasing a plugin free version of IE. If you use about any other browser including the full version of IE you will still be able to view flash. But why wouldn't Microsoft...
  8. flash is nearly dead

Companies like apple aren't trying to "kill off" flash because html5 is superior. Because right now it isn't. It's still in working draft state, it's buggy, it isn't widely supported yet, the community of developers isn't there (compared to flash) and it's editing/authoring tools aren't there...
  9. New Illustration Project.

Yeah Corel has the Bezier tool too. I think what I like about the freehand tool is that I can either click points to make straight lines and rough in a shape, OR I can hold down the mouse button and freehand a shape. If you notice in the video I do a little bit of both. I don't have to switch...
  10. New Illustration Project.

Transparencies work a little differently in Corel (I think) I haven't used Illy since I think CS2 so that might have changed. Just today I was attempting to show some other sign makers on a different forum what the transparency tools in Corel are like. I made this quick video. It's a bit...
  11. New Illustration Project.

When I do illustration work like this, I just ignore the object manager. It's doing it's thing, but I don't really use it that much. Every shape I create is one layer higher than the last one that was created so If I really need to move it up a layer or down a layer I select the shape then...
  12. New Illustration Project.

Personal preference I guess. I can do both, I'm faster at doing it that way though.
  13. Revamp time....

I was inspired by the strokes logo. :Big Laugh I liked your initial direction with the circle, although I can imagine that is played out in your town. I also like the direction you were going with the CSG icon. I don't care for your lettering style choices on either examples though. I...
  14. thinking about going to the apple side

Yeahhhh there you go! The more important question is what other reason would someone spend that extra amount for a Mac when some lower cost nonMac can perform the same tasks just as well? And if you say it has a better OS what exactly does that OS do better/faster than windows? Browse and manage...
  15. thinking about going to the apple side

No I didn't. I said the reason they bought a mac was to buy a computer. The reason they spend extra money and choose to get one machine over a similar machine that can help one do the same tasks in the same amount of time, would most likely be for superficial reasons. And for the record...
  16. thinking about going to the apple side

No, I'm pretty certain we have conversed outside of Mac and PC threads with no issues. I remember. So you must not remember communicating with me unless we are at odds. That hurts man. :omg::wink: First of all, as others have pointed out that is not true. Second of all the OP said he was...
  17. thinking about going to the apple side

Yesss thank you. I don't get. how much clearer can we say it?
  18. thinking about going to the apple side

Please read the part right before what you quoted. Specifically this part: then read the rest of what I wrote. Then calm down and don't take what I said as a personal attack against you, and I think we can find some common ground here. Breathhhh..... Now, why do you think my use of the...
  19. thinking about going to the apple side

Maybe I shouldn't answer that. I would hate to turn this into a Ford vs Chevy thing. :Big Laugh
  20. thinking about going to the apple side

Opinion noted. But I propose the problem isn't my communication skills, but rather your reading or reasoning skills. I never said people buy a mac for status or superficial reasons and nothing more. You made up the "nothing more" part. The reason people buy a mac is to buy a computer.... The...
