  1. thinking about going to the apple side

So basically you have established that spending extra for a Mac is a status thing and really doesn't have much to do with performance. Yeah we kind of already knew that. I don't think you will get much of an argument against that. I personally don't have a problem with people spending extra...
  2. thinking about going to the apple side

I think his point was: if you can get a $2 cup of coffee that taste just as good if not better than the $4 cup, wouldn't you?
  3. Dan Antonelli for the win in a HVAC mobile marketing contest

Yeah I remember seeing it too. But I think I saw him post it on facebook a while back. It doesn't surprise me though. I've really been digging their retro style lately!
  4. New Illustration Project.

The part that is sped up is 8 times faster. It is already a long video so I needed to speed it up a bit so it wasn't even longer. The first time I uploaded it the video got rejected because it was too long. (longer than 15 minutes) So I had to change a few account setting at youtubes to get...

  6. Contours in X5

In newer versions of Draw, "Create Boundary" also appears in your tool bar when you have more than one shape selected, next to "weld", "trim" etc. etc.. (oops Jhill beat me to it) The thing to know about Create Boundary is that, as it's name implies, it only creates a boundary around your...
  7. Contours in X5

I was talking about when he said this. This would work too:
  8. Contours in X5

Then take oldgoatroper's advice, it would work for you. But just for clarification when I say add a fillet to your lettering, it could be .00001" if you wanted. You wouldn't see it with your naked eye on the lettering but your contours corners would be rounded. I personally love the fillet...
  9. Contours in X5

Yup, you sure could.:thumb: Different strokes for different folks. Literally, if we were talking illustrator. :Big Laugh
  10. Contours in X5

Here is what I do. There is a docker called "Fillet/Scallop/Chamfer". It's under "windows" -> "dockers". I leave that docker up on my screen because I use it a lot for all sorts of things. Simply apply a fillet to your lettering or shape. It can even be a super small radius. THEN do your...
  11. virus questions

I don't get why having virus protection is "such a pain". You download it. It installs. It automatically downloads updates. You're protected. Seems simple enough me. In addition to that we have remote backup software. Same deal. You download it. It installs. It backs-up in the...
  12. New Illustration Project.

LOL. If only it were that easy. I have to track down real women the old fashioned way, just like everyone else.
  13. New Illustration Project.

The video I'm recording as I work on this will explain a lot of how I do the illustration part. When I'm done I'll post it. But yeah I use poser and daz studio for 3D work. I set up a scene using a 3D figure. I pose her just the way I want her for this ad and the overall look I'm going for...

  15. New Illustration Project.

Oh yeah, of course I'm using reference images. If I didn't she would look much more cartoony. Her face is from a photo. Her body was created in 3D. I didn't like the face on the 3D model I rendered, so I'm cheating and and using a photo for that. I did the same thing on the steampunk design.
  16. New Illustration Project.

Nope. Same process though, but for a different design with a different girl. The Corel contest had a steampunk style. This one is supposed to be more Bavarian.
  17. New Illustration Project.

    A little bit farther:
  18. American Made sign substrates????

Pretty much all of the paints we use are made here in the states though. :thumb::unclesam:
  19. American Made sign substrates????

Yeah you might be. Our goal is to buy quality. if we can get those quality products from American manufactures, great. But when we have good luck with a certain brand, we continue to use them, and unfortunately some of those aren't produced here. Our vinyl and print media isn't from China...
  20. X5: Toggle wireframe/enhanced?

You should get something like this. http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/keyboards/keyboard/devices/5123 It's made for gaming I would imagine, but could work for design software too.
