  1. MS31 Eco-Solvent Ink "will it work in my Valuejet 1204"?

The 1204, 1304, 1604, and 1614 are all not officially supported and I was told directly from a Mutoh tech to switch my customers to 3rd party. I've even had a couple people have them not even read in the 1204. We have the Bordeaux brand in stock here in Denver if you want to try those out.
  2. Mimaki/FineCut - Decrease Space Between Marks

You have to add the crop marks in Illustrator using FineCut. Otherwise it won't let you have two groups surrounded by crop marks. So exactly like you said except you just need to add the crop marks in Illustrator.
  3. Mimaki/FineCut - Decrease Space Between Marks

This one's been bugging me because I know I've seen it work before so I did some tinkering and I figured it out. What I did was make an Illustrator file the width of my material and how long I was willing to go, stepped and repeated the graphic to fill the area, used FineCut to add the...
  4. Mimaki/FineCut - Decrease Space Between Marks

I was thinking about this yesterday because I know I have a customer who does this exact type of workflow everyday with no issues and was wondering why two of you have the same issue. One thing that might be the difference is that I don't train my customers to use Finecut almost ever. To me it...
  5. Mutoh Value Jet 1624 Print Head Issue

Yeah old worn out dampers fail to resist the pull back from the cartridge and it sucks ink from the cap top up into the channel. It's worth a shot for sure.
  6. Mutoh Value Jet 1624 Print Head Issue

The cyan contaminating the yellow and the missing, unrecoverable nozzles are a sign that the maintenance station is not working properly. Usually I start with just replacing the cap top and flushing the waste lines to make sure the pump isn't clogged. If the station itself is more than 2 years...
  7. Mutoh 1204vj need help

Did it just start doing this out of the blue? It looks like the head slant is misaligned. Did you have a bad head strike recently?
  8. Need Help Mutoh 1638 test print problem

A agree. Looks like physical damage to the nozzles. Cap top and dampers won't hurt especially if they are due for a replacement already.
  9. What kind of computer do you guys run for a RIP?

For sure. If you're RIPing multiple files at once it can help. But if you're a one man shop printing a file at a time on one printer it's not as helpful.
  10. Suggestions When exporting to .pdf, What preset do you use to send to your RIP?

I know and I really am just playing with you. It was ingrained in me early on that JPEGs are not print ready files even though pretty much every print in our showroom is a JPEG from the internet.
  11. 8k sticker order. I have questions

Interesting. Have you tried making multiple copies in the layout screen and sending it that way? If that doesn't work for you I would say maybe something else is going on.
  12. 8k sticker order. I have questions

If she is laminating and reloading, she can set the first crop mark and then just send the cut only job using the same, "Execution" tab and just input how many sets there are to cut. It will find the marks for the next jobs automatically that way.
  13. 8k sticker order. I have questions

This is what you want to do. Get the job set up how you want within the 4-5ft, I would go up to 8 feet at most, and then go to the, "Execution" tab and you can tell it how many times you want it to do that job. If you don't want to deal with the take-up, go into the, "Quality" tab where you...
  14. Question about tax exemptions for resale goods

It's going to be different everywhere but, I'm a supplier and we don't have to charge tax, as long as the customer has a license, on any product that ends up in their final product for resale. So inks, vinyl, laminate etc. are not taxed but printer parts are for example.
  15. What kind of computer do you guys run for a RIP?

When it comes to CPUs and RIPing, clock speed is the most important factor. RIPing is not a process that can be parallelized so more cores doesn't do much unless your RIP is also your design computer in which case more cores will allow you to multi task better.
  16. Discussion Is there any young future Sign employees???

My teenage nephew had an event at his school where different businesses came in to have the kids learn about the business etc. and they got to be "employees" for a day. My nephew chose to work the sign shop because of his uncle. Most high schools have graphic design programs now but they focus...
  17. Mimaki Vinyl Cutter - CG130 FXII Question.

    No problem! Will do!
  18. Mimaki Vinyl Cutter - CG130 FXII Question.

In my experience it does well with simple shapes. Anything with fine details doesn't work well just by the nature of how it works. It can take some trial and error to dial in properly but once you get it, it works well. It also has two tools and tool tracks so you can set one up for regular kiss...
  19. Mimaki Vinyl Cutter - CG130 FXII Question.

They have upgraded to the CGFXII Plus now. It's the same cutter but has Ethernet and ID cut now. Other than that, they're the same machine.
