Just checked the preflight and it's a solid color for the spot. If it's in the file then I'm stumped and not exactly sure where to start at looking to figure it out. I have followed the white paper but must be missing something.
Any chance I could send the file and you could take a quick look...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not what it shows when I have the alpha channel view selected (on)?
It shows the alpha channel going from solid (at the mountains) and fading up to the top.
To get this, I selected the portion of the fade (above mountains and up) with the magic wand tool...
First, Not sure if this post should be in this thread or in the RIP threat, Fred feel free to move.
I've got a supplied .TIFF file from a client that has a white fade to the top (in attached) to clear
and I'm having issue's getting the white fade to print. The white fade is on its own...
I wouldn't even waste my time anymore on those guys. Let them get someone else to do it for $50 and then bring you their artwork files, then when they aren't going to work, give them the charge to convert them to a usable format. That pisses me off as much as people asking if that's your best...
I will say the SH2MAMM (milky milky) is a good product for block out but still letting lots of light in. I know at least here designers spec the 3M fasara because it is a 3M product and is great quality. The polyester base is great as it doesn't shrink and I have never seen the products fade...
I'm not sure what you mean by special.
It's a pain in the *** to work with.. right now our company has installed about 15k sqft in the last year of one of the products for 1 company (re-doing all floors in their building) and it's a pain. They have some neat patterns to them, designers LOVE...
The 3M Fasara line is a polyester based film. The water/soap solution is just fine (exactly the same as tint - about 1 tsp per 5 gallon water) to install with. Also just FYI the soap/water solution is okay to install tint as well (same mixture). Just be careful as the Fasara films crink a lot...
So i think i may have figured it out, it just requires a ton of layers and 4 print files..
First: print in reverse then add 3 layers of white print (using the multilayer function)
Second: print flood white layer
Third: print a 0/0/0/80 layer
Fourth: print flood white layer
Fifth: print 3...
I completely agree.. we don't do any vehicles only flat glass. Once you get good at it, you can make alot more money than vehicles. From the guys I've seen who do vehicles can do a vehicle in a couple hours to make a couple hundred bucks... a good installer can make a couple thousand bucks in a...
Our company started off only supply/install of 3M window films (tints) and have expanded into doing graphics. I would say that being able to offer it to your clients is always great but you have to make sure your installers can do a good job, the films that you use are a quality product, and...
With the Epson SC S50670 series that uses the new GS2 inks, the white ink is supposed to be a high density white ink and have a light transmittance of %1.8... at least that's what the brochure shows (attached)...
This is where I'm thinking I should be able to print a block out layer that...
Yea it looks really cool and I want one! but really they always make things look easy in the ad's. I'm sure there's something about it that would frustrate the hell out of you if you bought one. The term "too good to be true" comes to mind here haha though I wish it weren't. :P

I ran a test decal with the 0/0/0/60 layer and it is still showing through. It helped a bit with the black layer but you can still see plain as day the first layer text. Back to the drawing board for this one, but its a great start with the black layer, im going to lay around with that some...
Hmm I've never looked into the origin point part.. I will take a look at onyx and see, I want to say I don't think so but Ill check into it. I guess if not I go back to the mark on a piece of tape and align that and print.
Thanks!
Chaz
When you did this, are you able to set it up in onyx as one file or is it run as different jobs and just have to move the media back to a starting point and hope that it aligns? If you can do it as 1 file, how would you set it up in illustrator? (I have 50 4"x4" rounded corner decals with a wifi...
I'm trying to print a decal that can be seen from both sides of the glass once installed. My process so far as been using 3m IJ8150, and in onyx x10 printer settings (using Epson s50670) going into the multiple layers and printing the first layer colour, then the next 3 flood white layers, then...
Hope it all works out well for you. We've got the s50670 (since Jan) and it has been great, great quality and speed varies on which profiles/passes you use etc. but worth it. Just had to have a motor replaced and Epson had the parts shipped out to the tech that day and he was here with 2 days...
We change graphics for a very large client every quarter and the designer is wanting to do a fade to clear and not see any hard lines from the edge of the material. Currently we use 3M IJ36-20 to do the graphics as it comes in a 61.5" wide roll. From what I can find (3m, Avery, lintec, drytac)...
What does your original quote say? to produce banners and supply artwork? or to just supply banners.... there you go, you supplied the banners and that is all he paid for. I would just tell him that the alterations were in an output program and you can't save them as any other format (only the...
Ditto, I don't know any companies on the EC but I do know a couple in Ontario. There is EurOptimum but you would have to be very careful about your details (be as specific as possible with every aspect) or there is Fast Signs Burlington (used to work there, fairly decent product / not to bad...
