  1. Adobe CS4 Released

That is a fact. Adobe said Mac may see it in CS5, maybe.
  2. Adobe CS4 Released

Apparently, they have made performance increases, even in the 32 bit side. Adobe made a point of demonstrating this at the convention. They were manipulating large images quite a bit faster than in the past, with equivalent hardware. It was pretty impressive. There were also a lot of little...
  3. Adobe CS4 Released

Adobe has only 32 Bit XP on their "System Requirements". The only 64 Bit support they show is for Vista. Although, this doesn't mean that it won't work, only that it won't be supported.
  4. Computer specs (what are you running)

You're right. To use more than 4GB of RAM, you are going to need a 64 Bit OS. You will also need to find out how much RAM your motherboard (and BIOS) will accept. Both Flexi 8.5 and CS3 will run on 64 bit Windows (XP and Vista). RAM is a great way to speed things up. We use 8GB as a...
  5. Adobe CS4 Released

This should be worth the price all by itself (if you are using a 64 Bit Vista system). I talked to the Photoshop Scientist (developer) in charge of performance while I was at Photoshop World. He was showing me his system setup with 32GB of RAM and Photoshop was able to 29GB of it! I can't wait!
  6. gary

Welcome Gary! It's good to see you here on Signs101.
  7. disk error

Is that the EXACT error? Is this the only file with the error? If so, I would start looking at both the startup and scratch disks: - Disk nearly full? - Disk corruption? (Bad Sectors) - Defragmented recently? (Scratch can only use non-fragmented space) - Error during saving the file...
  8. windows xp update

There are "image" based backups that will backup everything, even your installed software. If something horrible happens, just restore from your back and everything is as it was when you backed it up. Pretty easy. Vista Ultimate is great this way, because the imaged based backup is built...
  9. windows xp update

I agree, if you are not sure about an update, or not comfortable making a backup, you need to seek the advice of an "IT" person of some sort. Before any big update, it is prudent to ensure you have a recent backup, just in case the update causes your computer to implode. Backups are good...
  10. Photoshop World

Well we have been here a couple days. Photoshop World has been a wealth of information. Among the announcements have been that CS4 will be official as of 9/23/08, but probably won't ship for another 4 weeks after that. I was able to compare notes with an Adobe Photoshop engineer. He...
  11. MUTOH 1618 vrs 1614

Please let me premise this by saying that I am not a printer expert. I just happened to be down at the Mutoh facility last week preparing for their Open House and took a quick peek at the 1618. One of the gentlemen told me that it prints nearly twice as fast as the 1614 using two heads instead...
  12. Photoshop World

This will be my first PS World. I was just wondering who I may see there. A friend of mine is a PSW veteran and convinced me to join him this year.
  13. Computer Mouse Help ? ? ?

Switch it out with a mouse at a different workstation. If it is a problem at the other system too, maybe it is just time for a new mouse? BTW, anything interfering with the light on the underside of the mouse? Lint, dust, etc?
  14. Computer Mouse Help ? ? ?

how about unplugging it from the computer (if it is usb) and then plug it back into a different USB port. The OS will recognize it as new hardware and will "install" it again. This sometimes fixes little "quirks".
  15. Computer Mouse Help ? ? ?

slow and jerky.... Batteries would have been my first guess. Hmmm, try putting a dull (matte), dark surface under the mouse (since it is an "optical" mouse). Also, try moving it closer to the "receiver" and see if either helps. Slamming it usually isn't in the troubleshooting manual:doh:. JK
  16. Vista Compatability

No biggie... I know that CS3 will work, but you will need to find out if your cutter software is compatible.
  17. Vista Compatability

What software will you be using? versions?
  18. BIG CITY or small town?

One pro of working in a big city (several million) is that there seems to be an endless supply of customers (not all good customers mind you). If you market well, you can seem to pull them in when you need them. Of course the con is competition. We have one business here that dominates the...

  20. Craptasmigorical.

Are you running 8.5? This seems to be a popular theme with 8.5 v1. I have heard that 8.5 v2 may be a bit more stable. An update may fix the issue.
