  1. Graphics tablets

Yes, they work with Corel Draw. Oops... Jim beat me to it!
  2. Graphics tablets

I wouldn't buy anything other than Wacom, personally. They have some great tablets. I recently attended Photoshop World in Las Vegas and they had a booth set up. Some of their new stuff is amazing. I especially enjoyed the Cintique as it combined a monitor with the tablet (you could actually...

  5. Big thanks goes out to.......................

AVG is a great security software... nothing to be worried about. The AVG firewall was blocking communication necessary for file-sharing. It seemed to be missing a profile "small network/home network". I tend to use AVG for antivirus and then use the built in Vista firewall. I am behind a...

  7. Networking Help

If you can ping the router from each PC but can't ping from PC to PC, the you probably have a software firewall on each PC. You will have to configure the firewall to allow for file sharing too. If you are just using the default Windows firewall, it should setup the firewalls rules for you...

  11. SSD (solid state drives) for scratch drives?

The access time is much lower on the SSD, but read / writes should be faster on the SAS or VelociRaptor RAID setups. And you have to look at the software you are using... it is able to take advantage of the increased access time. Like I said, aside from the performance aspects, size (capacity)...
  12. SSD (solid state drives) for scratch drives?

We played around with a couple different manufacturers... Samsung and Sandisk are among them. The fact was that they weren't big enough and we would have to RAID several together to have a large enough scratch disk for even medium size photoshop (wrap) files. It was very problematic at best...
  13. SSD (solid state drives) for scratch drives?

Have experimented with this... was not cost effective. A RAID array of 10k or 15 drives was nearly as effective and cost less.
  14. RAID Question

Try this: Go to "SATA Operation" in the BIOS Your system probably came set to "RAID Autodetect / AHCI" Change the operation setting to "COMBINATION" Reboot - and see if the drive shows up in the OS If it does, Dell recommends that you change the SATA Operation setting back to RAID...
  15. RAID Question

Do you have a "drive options" in your BIOS?
  16. RAID Question

I would try this as a last option. There is actually "meta" data written to the drives once you enable the RAID option. The OS needs those drivers to read the data.
  17. RAID Question

You can also set the jumpers on the drive for "150 only". I have run into this issue on some older motherboards.
  18. RAID Question

I am running out of ideas here.... You could try installing SATA RAID drivers for the "Perc 2s" controller, but I would assume that they would have had to already been installed to get your original drive to show up. You should be able to download them from Dell.com. You can search the stop...
  19. RAID Question

Doesn't sound like an option to me, unless you want to add in a new hardware SATA RAID card. This is pretty crazy (Thank Dell for making it so easy). OK, you can't create a new array, but do you have any new options in the "disk utilities"? Also, I did some reading and there is apparently a...
  20. RAID Question

It doesn't even show up as unallocated space in "disk management"? Does it show you any new options in the disk utilities menu now that the drive has been formatted?
