Thanks so much for your help. I will look at the filter. The thing is that it's not so much that it can't find the marks... it never even looks for them. Granted I have never seen one of these printers look for, find, and cut with crop marks so I'm at a disadvantage there.

Yes, that is how I set it. I'm surprised they say to set it while the ink is drying and that the reading will drop as it drys. It doesn't seem like a very scientific way to make an adjustment.
The cut cable is only a few weeks old it turns out. The plastic pieces on either side are old and...
No matter what I set the voltage to it changes to a different value as soon as I check it again. Wiggling the cable doesn't have any effect that I can see. I guess I'll try a new cable unless anyone has any other ideas.

I can't get my SP54V to cut to crop marks. I don't think the issue is it can't find the marks. It doesn't even look for the marks... you can’t even set the crop marks manually and have it follow them. It just sets service call 0111 as soon as click "print".
I installed a new crop mark sensor...
Here's how it went: "Drove to Halifax. Bought $400 worth of ink. Installed ink. Sucked ink out through syringe. Basically spent day f’ing with printer. Got printer to print... proper colours and all.
Started Aqua Valley printjob. Printed 1”. Stopped dead. Now won’t print anything except...
Spoke too soon. Now it won't print anything but the test print. Says printer is online and ready to print. Just doesn't print. I suppose I'll need to start another thread...

Back in business! I had to suck 2 syringes worth out of the magenta/yellow drain line to get all 4 colours back into the test print but I'm good to go now!
Thanks for the help! :thumb:

People! Please carefully read post #5 again. I'm not doing it because it isn't worth the cost savings to me at this time.
I don't know what a pencil point needle is or how much "$$$" is but a DISPENSING needle is a similar device to the needles used for blowing up basketballs (only smaller)...
I did the math again and I can't be bothered. I pay 55 bucks for a 440ml cartridge. I can cut that to $32 if I refill it. Not worth saving 20 bucks. Now if I had to pay for OEM Roland cartridges It would be more viable. I may look it again after I empty another set of cartridges.
BTW... it was...
You can either roll it up and start from one end or hinge it in the middle and do one 10 foot half at a time. What's the wall like? Brick? Marble? Latex paint? Might not want to get it wet depending.
