You're an emoticon? EDIT: No photo at first. Now there's a photo. EDIT 2: Why's there a Signs 101 sticker on your face?
  2. new caddy designs for our company

Pretty good. Not much to complain about except the unoriginal font for your logo, which I've now mentioned 3 times today
  3. Sometimes you just need to mention....

Why is there a grey shadow on some of the text but the boxes have a grey outline instead of a shadow? Looks inconsistent. General Contractor looks off-centre vertically. Not enough breathing room between all the design elements. That's how you could have fixed the problem with the 'g' touching...
  4. Sometimes you just need to mention....

That's not Helvetica or Arial. I'm pretty sure I've seen it before though - if it's what I think it is, it's a Helvetica ripoff that's called "Helvetica" but isn't quite right (most noticeably in the capital "R").
  5. 4 x 12 sign layout

You can go two ways with a "wood" background like that. Either make it look 100% realistic or dumb it down so it's obvious that it's a mocked up drawing to represent woodwork. You're kind of halfway in between with all the elaborate detail and no wood grain texture or realistic lighting.
  6. Our company van wrap design - Go ahead, tear it apart

See what I mean? Why do so many sign companies use the same type of fonts? And why are there mountains if you're called Desert Signs?
  7. Our company van wrap design - Go ahead, tear it apart

I'll be harsh but honest - you did say "go ahead, tear it apart" :) And I'll try to be helpful too... The colour scheme is not attractive at all. Try Adobe Color for some inspiration, or use the Color Guide panel in Illustrator to find complementing colours. Too many textures and effects...
  8. Floor Graphics

FYI we had a client once that had specific requirements for slip-resistance and it turned out that Avery's standard calendered laminates (DOL 2000 series) have been tested and do in fact meet a number of standards from UL, ASTM, etc. You'll need to contact Avery for the exact specs.

  10. Aluminum "No Trespassing" Signs - Production Method Suggestions

+1 for subbing them out. Let someone else with a bigger facility and better equipment make 200 signs for you. You might even be able to charge the same price and turn a higher profit on the job, versus doing it yourself.
  11. Flexi 10, Can you centertrace a vector image, or text?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but couldn't you just use a thick black stroke and a thin white stroke on two copies of the same shape? If that isn't what you mean, post some pictures to help explain what you're trying to do.
  12. Oh I see....you can record my calls, but i can't record yours? WTF!!!

Wrong. Federal law is that at least one party must know that it's being recorded. State laws are sometimes stricter (i.e. all parties must be made aware) and if the credit card company is calling you from another state, then it's probably the state with the stricter laws that would need to be...
  13. Having problems printing on Oralite 5600 Reflective

We use a lot of Oracal 5600. Those look like fingerprints to me too. Reflective is expensive, and fingerprints really stand out when you print over them, so we always use gloves to handle it. If you order it by the yard, tell your supplier to make sure their warehouse guys use gloves unless they...
  14. Cast Vinyll Installation

To clarify, that's the advice you might get if you ask one person. If you ask everyone, you'll find that there's no consensus about one brand being the best. It seems to be more about the personal preference of the installer. Some installers prefer 3M, some prefer Oracal, some prefer Avery...
  15. Mortgage Lending Logo

CamelCase without spaces looks really tacky and unprofessional, especially for a bank. Aside from a very small handful of major brands, it's generally only used by tech companies and occasionally in the entertainment biz, and rarely comes into fashion anywhere else.
  16. Media Storage Ideas

Horizontal storage can be difficult and awkward as well, especially with full rolls. I find vertical storage much easier. Just put some screws in the corners of the black plastic core holders and attach them all in a row to a piece of plywood. No more dominoes! Also, with horizontal storage on...
  17. Mortgage Lending Logo

I would spend more time on the typography. If there's one thing bank logos have in common, it's that they use typefaces that are resistant to aging. The font you've chosen looks a bit too modern I think, which means it's more difficult to predict whether it will age well. I would pick something...
  18. Conversion software FS to EPS - bulk

Theoretically, you could probably do it with a macro recorder (a tool that records your mouse and keyboard inputs and then plays it back repeatedly). A simple recording of mouse clicks and keystrokes could do it, for example, if you copy all your FS files into one folder, then record yourself...
  19. Best methods for scaling oversized graphics??

If you're referring to the Enhanced License TIFF option on Shutterstock, it's normally the same resolution as the Standard Resolution JPEG. A bit of JPEG compression versus lossless TIFF isn't going to make any significant difference if the resolution is the same, so in my opinion there's no...
