  1. Sign I just did!

I die a little inside whenever I get artwork this bad from a customer.
  2. Great Escape

    Thanks Fred!
  3. Great Escape

    Anyone recognize this serif font?
  4. Logo…thoughts please!

Agreed. Your name is "Siloam", not "Signs & Design".
  5. Shop logo attempt

I honestly thought you were trolling when you posted it. Just in case mine was one of the comments you're referring to, I stand by what I said. Don't go messing around with graphic design when you know nothing about it. The best you can do is hurt your own business or whomever you're...
  6. Plastic edge cap

That's an interesting method. I've never seen edge caps on ACM before - not on our signs and not on anyone else's. Are they really necessary for durability? Bare edges on ACM look quite nice, even up close. I see ACM with unfinished edges used in art gallery prints all the time here.
  7. will Printed Matte vinyl....laminate ok?

Same here. We quit stocking gloss calendered vinyl a couple years ago and guess what? No one asks for gloss. They only ask for gloss when you give them the option.
  8. Sans serif font

    Thanks!
  9. Printing on mesh

If mesh has holes and blockout blocks light, then what exactly is blockout mesh?
  10. Sans serif font

Any hits on this one? I've got nothing on WTF.
  11. Shop logo attempt

The least you could do is read a short book to learn some design basics. This one is great for beginners: http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Layout-Art-Eye-Appeal/dp/091138068X
  12. Legality and etiquette question

Why not make a sign from each category with your logo on it and take pictures of them?
  13. New logo ideas for critique!

I see where you're coming from, but I have to respectfully disagree. You can't give equal weight to the top two items in a hierarchy. It would break the hierarchy by way of the two items competing with each other. Additionally, I can't think of any logical reason that the service/product needs...
  14. New logo ideas for critique!

Your hierarchy is backward. Your company name is Silvertip, not "Signs & Graphics".
  15. Using spot color with fountain

That doesn't work. Read the original post - he's working in CMYK so even with a transparency, K100 to spot colour red is not going to look right. It'll work fine in RGB though, so that's one solution. In either case I don't think you should be using a spot colour with gradients and...
  16. Design software suggestion

Illustrator is the most widely used vector software among professional designers, and it's very powerful. CorelDraw is a popular alternative that many great designers use. It's known to have slightly less of a learning curve and it seems to be a bit more popular for illustrations. If you're...
  17. What is the thickest semi-rigid PVC type material you can cut with the standard vinyl

We have tried cutting .010-.020 polystyrene for stencils as well, with some success. We quit doing it though, as the shavings get everywhere, the cutting blades wear down quickly and the plotter sounds like it's really overworking itself to cut through the material.
  18. Seaming DiBond

Pro tip: Use a texture/photo/dark-coloured background to help hide seams. Solid light-coloured backgrounds make seams stand out the most.
  19. Script font ID

    Got it! Caflisch Script
  20. Script font ID

Any ideas on this script font? Looks like a common one I would know, but can't figure it out.
