  1. color matching

Then you print a colour chart on each material that you use regularly, and match the colour visually like the rest of us.
  2. unknown design scale...

This, or you can just check the size of the line you draw and divide it into 48, then scale up by that many time. Illustrator lets you type in a percentage into the width/height inputs. It's really simple math, and you've got to know it if your job is designing signs. I use this exact process...
  3. Slate Pro.....................

Is this a joke? You can't ask for pirated fonts here. Gibson is a slightly less expensive font that's nearly identical to Slate. Avenir is very similar as well, and that's one you probably have already.
  4. Travel Rates

That's how we charge as well. Say you have X amount of billable hours in a month. One month you do installs nearby, the next month you do some more remote installs. You don't want to make less money on the jobs that are further away
  5. Start of a Logo

Don't know how I missed that. Copperplate Gothic was not designed for italics, and generally it's a good rule of thumb to not add a slant to a serif font.
  6. Creating Wall Mural Panels

Illustrator makes it very simple. Create a new document with multiple artboards, spacing set to zero and no bleeds. Turn bleeds on after. Drop in your artwork and export to PDF or multiple JPEG/TIFF files.
  7. Start of a Logo

Great job on the script, but Copperplate Gothic doesn't look appropriate at all, nor does it pair well with the script.
  8. Don't want heat on for regular cut vinyl

No idea why Versaworks doesn't turn the heat off automatically when you select the "Cut Only" setting. You have to switch your heat settings to Custom and then uncheck all three to OFF.
  9. Some more b4 and afters

    Amen!
  10. Looks easy...

I think I'm on your side, but that might be slightly debatable when it comes to tabular vs. proportional. Tabular does often look a little better when you have columns of 3-digit suite numbers. Also, thanks Fred!
  11. Looks easy...

Looked easy at first, but my first few guesses were Impact, Helvetica Heavy Condensed and Haettenschweiler, none of which matched. Any ideas?
  12. Opaque white vinyl with clear adhesive?

There should be plenty. Most cut vinyl has clear adhesive and many printable ones do as well.
  13. Lexan

I suppose it depends what you're comfortable with, but I would find a knife to be much easier.
  14. Credit to a company I do not know

Any customer who makes a fuss about the 50% deposit is a HUGE red flag. One thing we do is tell them they can have 30 day terms after their first 3 orders are paid on time. Only make exceptions for government and large corporations that you know you can trust (although you might have to wait...
  15. Brush font ID

    Thanks!
  16. Brush font ID

Any ideas on this one? It's done in vinyl, so pretty sure it's a font and not hand-lettered. Also the lowercase y's appear to be the same.
  17. Uh, wtf is going on here?

I definitely choose my battles, but I don't get clients like that very often, luckily.
  18. More "Romanceing the Brush"

Beautiful! If I had to pick out one thing, the alignment of the hard drop shadow on "TERMINAL" bothers me a bit. You've got the offset of the shadow slightly more than the width of the letter strokes, which leaves the awkward slivers you see between the letter and the shadow.
  19. Uh, wtf is going on here?

"We can use Arial if you want, but I would suggest switching it for something else. For example, Helvetica is 90% the same as Arial but looks more professional. Arial is the default on everyone's computer, so it makes it look like you got your secretary to design it in MS Word. It's also kind of...
  20. Uh, wtf is going on here?

Delete Arial Never use Arial again, never look back Problem solved
