  1. Temporary window graphics - "COMING SOON" window wrap during new construction

I would probably use removable wall film for this. Easy to apply and remove due to the 6mil thickness, especially if you're printing solvent.
  2. Options for free standing letters

Layered styrofoam is probably the most common way of doing this.
  3. Pricing Software

I'm an idiot. Didn't realise how old this thread was.
  4. Pricing Software

Are they? They're not in the merchants list and there's no "Merchant Member" title under his name.
  5. Printed Color Vs Screen Color

Just a guess, but try the same files in Illustrator and see how the colour looks compared with Flexi and your prints. One of the reasons we quit using Flexi years ago was the horrible on-screen colour reproduction.
  6. Contour cutting on perf

We've done it on our Roland with registration marks. It was pretty straightforward in our case, but the one tip I'd give you is to do it after hours if you have a lot to do. The sound of cutting perf is very unpleasant.
  7. How do you charge for Permit Processing

For simple jobs that don't require electrical or engineering, we charge $120 for permit drawings (elevation and section only - plan is extra) and send the client to city hall to do it themselves.
  8. Re-creating Logos

This works often for me. Don't browse their site though, I just Google site:clientsite.com filetype:pdf and download the first 10 PDFs that come up, drop them into Illustrator and see if any have a vector - often there's a few that don't and then one that does.
  9. Logo for a multi purpose business

Focus on one concept. Splitting the focus into 4 different ideas does not make a memorable logo. You may have stumbled upon a good idea in the top right where you have just 3 plain boxes of different sizes. I think that's a great, memorable concept that abstractly implies the idea that the...
  10. Carved Pizza Sign

Pizza slice pointing down would be the most aesthetically pleasing in most cases, I think, but you haven't left enough space to do that.
  11. Help with stock images

Ask your suppliers or check their websites?
  12. Changeable Dates on Mesh Banner?

You're overthinking it. Just use vinyl lettering! Yes, on mesh banners, it works just fine.

  14. little program to figure square footage

I remember this... what an epic thread! Seriously, write "W x H / 144 = ___ sqft" on a Post-It and stick it to your monitor.
  15. How was this effect achieved?

Not an expert on this, but my first thought was that there are no letters on the 2nd surface. The edge lighting is reflecting off the back of the 1st surface letters and casting a glow on the 2nd surface frosting. Does that make sense? I've been known to be wrong about things.
  16. starting out

It's not easy to understand why one "simple" design works and another one doesn't when you're a rookie designer. It just takes experience. Also that's just the simple, base version of Draplin's visual identity. There's a lot more to it than that. Be humble, grow a thicker skin and check your...
  17. Text Box

Easy solution for Illustrator: just use an area text box and resize it to match the cap height. Then you can centre it vertically in one click with the centering tool. It will even ignore your descenders! Note: Make sure there's a gap between your baseline and the bottom of the bounding box...
  18. Cutting ACM 3mm (Aluminum Composite Material) Manually?

Box cutter will work, but a scoring knife is the right tool for this.
  19. 3D Lettering

These are typically CNC routed using a V-shaped bit. If you're outsourcing this, there may be some CNC shops that don't do it, at least in my experience. Not all software for running a CNC router can do this, apparently. I should also add, these type of prismatic letters are also done by...
