Hi All,
I need some help. We have an APD/Anagraph plotter 48". The mother board blew last week. We removed the motherboard (very easy, open the plotter and remove 5 machine screws) we sent the board to a repair guy who says the repair is easy, but needs a picture of the back of a clean board. We...
Just in case you don't know, myfonts.com is a great source for fonts, they have a super selection and while there, check out there tool called
what the font. You download a jpg of some of the characteristic letters and most of the time the name of your font will appear. On the rare time when...
Check with the town. There should be an old sign permit that states footing size, pole wall thickness and sf of sign the pole was originally installed for.
If you do that research and document it I'd think you did your job. Keep in mind that any structure will decay over time. If the structure...
Why do you hate Modern Masters? Their gold is a much better match to gold leaf than Matthews. We basically use Matthews whenever we are painting a sign but when we need a convincing gold our go-to product is MM. You need a light undercoat and then several coats of paint.
I've had new polycarb shatter while being sawed, even thought we were using the proper blade. It's rare but it does happen. Re-using old polycarb faces doesn't make sense unless the face is only a few months old because of its tendency to yellow and leave a ghost when lettering is removed. Just...
I have experienced the same issue. It isn't your plotter, it's how the ANA software handles the arch. The odd thing is if you had an oval the same size it would cut it flawlessly. As soon as you cut a section out of the oval it distorts the file. The only way I've been able to achieve a clean...
I spoke with Viet Lee, the owner of APD Devices, (formerly Anagraph) he told me the XL-5 plotter wouldn't run on any software newer than win98. I have XP & 7 and can't make it run. My biggest problem is that the XL-5 ini file is missing from the old software so the computer can't see the plotter.
Hi all, Years ago I ran an Anagraph XL-5 sprocket fed vinyl cutter. It has been in the attic for a long time.
I've got a client who orders 6-10k small shapes at a time. My friction plotter wanders during long runs, even when set to go slowly. The XL-5 plotter would be perfect for these long...
problem vinyl
I think it was an FDC product, also looks like something Coburn (I think that's the right spelling) would sell. Picture gold or silver mylar, that mirror finish gloss vinyl that tears easily when weeding, but in a reddish copper.
It never fails, I had a roll of copper mylar vinyl hanging around the shop for ages. A client came in and fell in love with the color. I was thrilled to use it up. Now she wants more lettering to match and the vendor tells me its been discontinued since 2006. ARRRR! does anyone have some reddish...
The first thing
The first thing is to determin what it is that you will be producing. You mention banners. Is that the main thrust of your production? Different printing devices have different strengths.

Is it just that logo you need or are you needing that type style for a sign?
If you need that logo in a vector, email it to me & I'll make it for you. No charge. JM

they have a program called what the font... catchy name too.
it will ask you questions about the type you have that will narrow down the choices to a few to choose between. As for that one, my guess is that the original designer digitized it. I'd scan it into my...
