  1. Installed today and a few more

Well... we installed the sign that we had paint mask problems with. Although the lines in the finish were visible when the sign was in the shop, out in the sun they were hard to see. The client even got close enough to touch the sign and didn't say a word, so we're home free on that one. Aside...
  2. Suggestions Decently priced CNC router

  3. It's always good to speak up

My wife and I were in Newport Rhode Island for a long weekend and drove past the Newport Car Museum. We love old cars and decided to stop in. We were blown away by the 70+ cars in the collection. If you are near by you should check it out. Anyway... we were in the gift shop, getting ready to...
  4. Router, laser, or waterjet?

A CNC machine with vacuum hold down would do your job. Make a file with as many blanks as will fit on a panel the size of the bed. include rounded corners and holes. Buy bits specifically designed for cutting aluminum (single flute carbide) they require no misting and run at about 70 impm at...

Here in Connecticut, if you are a manufacturer you are essential. Check your state guidelines, and yes, if you are making the kind of signs you mention you are definitely essential. Get a new payroll company.

  15. Paint mask issues

Paint Mask issue update. Visual800 mentioned getting the sign into the sun. We figured, why not, so we rolled it out into the sun and were amazed to see that in the sunlight the lines were quite a bit less noticeable. It baked for a day and although the lines are still there, and about the same...

  17. Paint mask issues

Hi All, We have been carving signs for ages, we prime & paint the HDU with Matthews paint, let it dry for at least 48hrs and then apply a vinyl paint mask. All pretty standard sign making practice that has worked flawlessly up to now. This time, when removing the mask, new roll (yellow, my...
