  1. Adobe to Corel

Exactly. Like I said before, the old versions before X4 weren't great, in fact pretty poor. Since then they have poured tons of features and programming into Draw.
  2. Retractable banner stands

That was so bad with wsdisplay? Every time I use them, I am 100% happy.
  3. Adobe to Corel

How do you figure that as well? Have you even used X8? You must still be back on 12 which didn't have those things.
  4. Retractable banner stands

I only use wsdisplay.com they have been excellent through about 8 orders and never a problem. I even got them to speed up an order that I received two days after placing the order at no additional charge.
  5. remove old letters & install new- questions

That is from Gino's personal collection probably has been used countless times.
  6. remove old letters & install new- questions

I am so confused, in my 9 1/2 years in the sign business I've never scratched glass with a knife or razor blade. Did a little digging, here is what I found.
  7. Adobe to Corel

Errr... With corel you don't need plugins or certain file types for RIP either. I design, save, import into RIP and print.
  8. remove old letters & install new- questions

If it's VHB taped, use a guitar string and file it down behind the letter. Glass doesn't scratch (providing it isn't sandblasted, have any films on it, etc) so you can take a razor blade and scrape the glue off. I bet the glass is 1/4" thick so it's not super breakable anyways. Just be careful...
  9. Taking on larger jobs

What job? the one with the crane? If so it's delayed until Monday. Main contractor is still trying to get some pieces manufactured. So I can post after Monday.
  10. Taking on larger jobs

You don't know how true that statement is. Ever dealt with the Verizon contract? RUN! Over 20 stores we did, about 18 were screwed up due to locked out of building, wrong vinyl, sign didn't fit, PO's were the wrong amount, short changed on the invoices, unknown shipments and they didn't have the...
  11. Adobe to Corel

I've dabbled very little in AI and didn't like the whole interface and the function names are different even if they do the same thing. But I started with Corel and am going to keep it. :noway:
  12. Adobe to Corel

With AI you have thousands of layers and it's annoying, whereas you don't have to go through all of that with Corel, you can yes, but don't need to. I had an employee once that was very experienced with AI and it took him 3 hours to design a simple banner. When asked why, he explained all of the...
  13. Taking on larger jobs

Yes that is correct, we have a BSC Class B. Insurance doesn't matter, you just can't do any job over $120,000. We haven't gotten that big of a job yet, so that is why I haven't upgraded to a Class A yet. Don't need it until we get closer to needing it.
  14. Adobe to Corel

Corel is way more user friendly than Adobe. Corel has fast become an industry standard for the sign world. I agree that the older versions of Corel weren't great, before X4 (14). However they recently released X8 and it's amazing and I haven't run into a single problem yet or any problems with...
  15. Taking on larger jobs

I have installers who take care of the installs, what I am saying is that me, myself and I usually stay at the office, but this was a large scale job that I needed to assist on. Yes I am fully licensed and insured for any single job up to $120,000 including billboards.
  16. Removable Wall Graphics - aka like Fathead

    Did you try Jarhead?
  17. Taking on larger jobs

True in a way, it may be more, because in the sign business nothing goes right. It's impossible for every job to be successful.
  18. Roland Plotter

I've had my GX-24 for 6 1/2 years and have never oiled anything ,I've changed the cutting strip twice due to idiot employees who think maximum pressure is the key to everything.
  19. Application Tape Roller/Dispenser

I heard about mailing it to yourself. Also I talked to a machine shop that have patents and they said it's $10,000 each. I may avoid patent and just make 100 or so to sell to sign companies to help out the industry and just let someone copy the idea. I often have one guy in the shop who needs...
  20. Taking on larger jobs

Yeah found that out. I am not an installer, I am just the owner who assists on some installs, but at one point the shooting boom forklift as at an angle and fully extended and it only had a 1,000lb limit, so we were temp screwed. But I've learned from that to get mega big equipment. Have to...
