  1. So easy?

Thanks to anyone that had a look. I ended up vectorizing and cleaning up what I had here. Not nearly as fast as the Dr., but I gotta get some easy practice in once in a while, right?
  2. So easy?

Hey look! That was my 100th post, too! At least it isn't 100th font request. :P
  3. So easy?

I'm just about certain I've used this font in a couple projects. However, here I am, fumbling around trying to identify it. Any takers? I can smooth out my graphic if it becomes a pain, it's just very ugly as is when blown up to fit on a 16' plexi :P Thanks in advance!
  4. MBX Vinyl Zapper

Ours works great but I can't recall using it on white paint. We'll have to keep an eye out.
  5. Do you have a DVD drive on your design computer.

We burn archives/backups onto DVD so we have one in all machines here in the shop. The price on them is so low nowadays it's a cheap upgrade at the time of assembly.
  6. What kind of computer do I get!?

Got one. I was expecting more from it, but it is a nice little boost for sure.
  7. What kind of computer do I get!?

Just wanted to pop a quick update into this thread in case anyone searches back to it and uses it as a reference. Intel has recently released their Core 2 Duo processor which nullifies many of my statements about the (then) current Dual core processor options. If within budget, this processor...
  8. Flexi Color Palette

Excellent question. I'd also like to ask what is everyones palette preference for printed vinyl? We've assembled a custom palette that gets additions on a regular basis. But if there's a perferred stock one, maybe we wouldn't have to goof around with it so much :)
  9. Why isn't this Arial Black?

Thanks for the prompt and informative replies. I modified a swiss I had to bring it a little bit closer to their original. I'm due at their site in a half hour to show them what I came up with which I'm sure will meet their needs. Thanks again!
  10. Why isn't this Arial Black?

Wow, all I did was refresh my browser and there was a reply. All of my helvetica's seemed to be too skinny. The Swiss brings me a step closer, but the 'r' characters dont drop down on the tips of the r. Wow that doesn't make any sense, does it? Should I just manually stretch out the r a...
  11. Why isn't this Arial Black?

I thought I had this figured out and even went onto rebuilding the rest, but then I noticed the differences in the tip of the 't' and when I overlay it in wireframe it doesn't match up on a quite a few spots. Then I went in and started manually editing each character, but this will be used in...
  12. storage ideas (capacity?)

We spec a system with a RAID array for anything containing critical data. Why? Cause it's cheap and effective. To this day, I have never seen a sata connection fail and I'm not sure where the concern from the other forum members stems from. People are lazy, people dont back up files. A very...
  13. Trying new vid cards! got quad + 2 gigs!

I did as much research as I could find on this subject when I built my design machine and I could not find any definitive tests or results. I found a lot of opinions that pointed us towards the Matrox line. I cant tell you which one is best for certain applications; we went with the Parhelia...
  14. LCD Monitor

Are you using the VGA or DVI output on the back of your computer? The DVI will be the optimum connection if you have the choice. Appearance-wise the DVI will be the longer rectangle connection.
  15. LCD Monitor

We have that exact model on one of our tech benches and I can tell you flat out that I dont think that monitor is up to the calibre of work your putting out. Viewsonic's "graphic line" has a VG920 for about the same price as that AOC, or one of the Dell's you were looking at might be good for...
  16. LCD Monitor

What model is your AOC? I've used a couple of theirs that weren't my favourite, but I hadn't tried any of them for graphics work. I've been pleased with Viewsonic and Phillips so far in LCD, but I've been sticking to my dual Viewsonic P220f CRTs for the graphic work. If they're offering a...
  17. New computer freezing.

I'll refrain from highjacking another thread and wont question your opinion, Oldpaint. We can agree it's most likely video related, and are pleased that it's getting taken care of.
  18. New computer freezing.

Glad you're getting things fixed up. OldPaint, with all due respect, the brand of video card will make no impact on his problem or any problems like that. I myself am an ATI fan but there are no faults that can be traced down to a problem in general with nVidia cards. I also question the...
  19. New computer freezing.

Is there any chance you can take a pict of the white with vertical lines? It sounds very much like a hardware problem, most likely as others pointed out in your video card (be it onboard or slotted) or in your monitor. If you could scrounge up a loaner monitor to run for a couple days that...
