I think the problem is the mixing of the fonts. With the top one the size difference is enough to overlook this problem. When placed inline they compete with one another and look out of place. Maybe differentiate them more with something like the attached

You call that good, ugh! Illustrator.... draw one rope shape. Count number of shapes in border. Divide that number into 360. Rotate around a circle that number of degrees and duplicate. Probably 2-3 minutes That is how I did this example
