  1. FC-8000 Cutting Issues

Is your plotter set to scan all 4 crops? it's buried in one of the menus. I would double check your grit roller tension levers in the back, if they are wrong it can hugely impact accuracy. Also if I'm plotting a gloss material(not sure if you are) I cut little squares of Matte laminate and...
  2. water proof labels

I did some labels for my kids sip cups for daycare. I used Oracal 3165 with a standard matte laminate and they have been holding up great for over 3 years and at least one trip through the dishwasher per week.
  3. Best bang for my bucks

Avery vinyl is fine.....there are numerous grades of vinyl for any manufacturer the question is, is it low grade calendered or high grade cast? The price/quality difference is enormous when talking vinyl. As for the banner prices, $3.50 sq. ft. seems fair if the quality is there.
  4. Which plotter would you choose and Why?

I plot several hundred feet per week on a Graphtec FC7000MK2 and aside from a few very minor annoyances it does a very solid job. It will reliably plot a full roll on one send if you are good at loading the media straight. :signs101:
  5. Need a little help please

Un-check Proportional and you can enter any length and width you want. As far as "sections" on your pre-plot screen....If you were using Flexi Rip & Print this would indicate that you have 'Paneling' turned on. Best of Luck.
  6. Help! File format not supported

Just for giggles, try copying and pasting the file in a different folder, I have had this work in Flexi 7.6 with .pdf files.
  7. Graphtec FC8000 speeeeeeeeed...

I frequently send a full (150 ft.) roll of laminated decals at the end of a day at a speed of 15 and nine out of ten times the roll is piled neatly on the floor in the morning and perfectly plotted. This thing is amazingly accurate, we do fairly complex contours and we rarely have to scrap sets...
  8. Unmask eps in flexi

You can also crank your hue/saturation down while in photoshop to get a nearly solid black version of your image, in this case it should contour perfectly.
  9. Unmask eps in flexi

Open it in photoshop, this will rasterize your image...save it as a .pdf. Now import/open it in flexi, under the Bitmap menu go Vectorize then Bezier and now you have something you can work with as far as contouring. I am using Flexi 7.6 v2 but am assuming 8.5 is very similiar. good luck.
  10. Lost PDF Import abilities

I had the same problem happen about an hour ago Bill, assuming you were getting the 'File Format Not Supported' error? Funny thing is, I had opened a .pdf twenty minutes prior. I'm going back to the shop in a couple hours will let you know If I find a solution.
