Bigfish, I believe your right on. As far as I know duratran is a chemically developed photographic film (paper) that produces super color and is extremely glossy.
We print inkjet backlit with great results, but it's not like a true duratran. However, most people would never know the...
I looked into this a while back too and found out that even if you are certified they don't make aircraft vinyl for solvent printing. Stay away from the liability!!!!!!!!!!!

Only issue I have with the printer is the take up system. Seems to work fine for up to a half of a roll, but more than that and there's problems.
I've cleaned ours once in 4 months and will probably clean it again this week.

We have a 11880 and have had issues with one of the medias we use. On this particular media I have a head strike problem if it's not loaded perfect.
Try this! Load the roll and once it loads and is ready for print check the tension of each side of the media just below the roll cover on top...
When I've done similar jobs I always state to the client that once approved all corrections are at their cost and require full payment before I send the files to the printer. Some jobs I type out all the copy and some times copy and pasted from what they supply. Have done offset jobs that had...
I tried to buy a few pieces of hardware(banner stand, sign holder, etc.) from them to see the quality but they did make it way to hard to purchase from them. It was like they didn't want our business!

I would also take the time to consider the Epson GS 6000. Great print quality, very little maintenance! Only fault so far that I see is the take up system.

I like cmyk because of the control in color correcting raster images. I like everything 4 color for our solvent, and don't care if its RGB or cmyk for our aqueous printer.

I've looked into this before. I believe you would need to print them on perf that has no adhesive on it. After printing you apply a micro dot adhesive to the printed side and done. Problem I found was that the micro dot adhesive rolls are not very wide.

We have a non working JV3 160 and not sure what I should do with it. Should I part it out, sell it to someone to rebuild or what?
Techs think it needs a new mother board.

I print and hot lam Aqueous ink all the time. We print on a 5mil polyester film and put a 5 mil textured hot lam on top and either a 3 mil lam or a 10 mil backer on the back side. Works great, no problems yet, been doing it for more and a year. Hot lams go down at about 200 degrees F.

Hi,
I have 3, cyan, 1 magenta, 2 yellow, and one black 440ml SS2 cartridges. One of the cyans is out of date (2009.10.02) but I have a new chip for the cartridge so it can be used like normal. I also have 8 brand new wipers that I do not need any longer.
Plus I have a 160SP for parts or...
I have 7 440ml carts of SS2 ink to sell as we just got our new Epson Solvent printer. What do you think is the best way to sell it, on signs 101, or ebay?
Just want to get a fair price for them, say $75 each or so.
