  1. Epson GS6000 or Mutoh 1614

Soon we will be looking for a new solvent printer. I like the epson and hear great things about it. Local Mutoh dealer claims Mutoh's wave pattern is better than Epsons and that their wave pattern uses less ink per sq. foot than the GS6000. Would like to know what others think? What one...
  2. Roll-Up material

I would not recommend any vinyl banner material for a retractable banner stand. We use lexjets display film on our aqueous printer and then hot lam it with a 5 mil texture on top and a 3 mil gloss on back. The poly, fellers pop up and similar items work well too, they print great but in most...

  4. banding on gradient prints

Is it banding caused by the printer, or gradient banding that is in the art? Many time gradients made in vector based programs have banding in the art, even photoshop will if you don't watch out for it. Post a pic if you can. Jim
  5. Good color management!

I have worked in prepress departments of 3 different companies and have operated various proofing machines and wide format printers. I have worked with both calibrated and non calibrated monitors. In my opinion if you know your colors by the numbers, know what good color is by the numbers, you...
  6. photo scan prints

Depending on the printer and how good your scan or capture of the photograph is, you can achieve pretty good results. Really depends on how good the print your copying is. Follow the copywright laws. However, if the originally was shot with a digital camera the original file is best. All...

Hi, Can't help you with your JV3 problem, but I do have a few questions for you. 1. Do you print vinyl banners on your JV3? With what ink? How long to you let them dry before leaving you building? 2. Can you give me a wholesale price on 24" plastic roll banners? Either 50 or 100 feet long...

We print them on Lexjet's 5mil display film and hot lam them with 5 mil textured lam on top and 3mil gloss lam on back. You need a real good hot laminator to do it well. They also have some nice pressure sensitive options you can do on a cold lamintor, but I think the hot lam is better...

Hi, just read your reply to my post on your question. Our retractables sell for about $500, but I think you can provide a lot better product than scrim banner for $200. If you have an aqueous ink printer and laminator I think a polyproplyne media with PSA lam would be a great product for the...
  14. New Daige Quickmount Laminators?

I purchashed a Daige about 6 or 7 years ago and it really was a piece of crap! Had it for about 3 hours before it broke. Looks like they are a little better these days, but they lost me with that junk they shipped to me. Jim
  15. What can I do with an Epson Stylus Pro 7800?

My experience with the water seep in the edges is that it can greatly depend on the laminate. Cheap lam seemed to let the water seep in, when better lam with better adhesive worded great. Jim
  16. What can I do with an Epson Stylus Pro 7800?

The 7800 is an great printer with excellent quality. Not meant for outdoor, but I have had prints last for a up to 4 years outside with my 7600, all depends what it is and where it outside. Had adhesive back vinyls on my vehicles for over 2 years without any fading. Must have laminate applied...
  17. Advice on laminators?

Had a Daige once for 2 days as it broke the day I opened it... Must have a take up for your finished product! You get what you pay for and I've learned that in most cases the laminator is a bigger investment than a solvent printer. jim
  18. Best RIP software for MUTOH

After starting with Onyx 2 years ago we switched to the EFI colorproof rip and get much better and consistent color. Easy to make profiles for too!!!!!! jim
  19. backlit film printing

We print our backlit on Kodak Universal backlit film and put a 10mil hot lam over it when cured. Printed on Aqueous printer with custom profile, but most matte surface profiles would work well. jim
