  1. New poll - please vote - my goal is to have at least 100 votes.

There's been lots of talk about this in numerous threads and much better info than you will get from a poll.
  2. Business Management - 6/16/2020 - open discussion

I took mine online from a link directly from HR before I was hired. My results were shown to me in the form of a chart. It was a multiple choice test.

Anyone born more than 5 years apart from their siblings is typically considered an only child. You likely have traits of an only child and some of a last born also. Just for fun...I'm a first born and this fits me very closely. Firstborn Personality Traits Simply by being a couple's first...

I totally agree with this method! I never understood why they shunned the Gold people, and likely most Greens as well. How can things run without order, I just don't understand.

I just thought of a book I read that I didn't see on any of your posts. It's by the owner of Johnsonville Sausage, my past employer. The Flight of the Buffalo by Ralph Stayer. Each employee is given a copy and probably expected to read it? You sound like the kind of person that would like his...
  6. Maybe real business advice

I totally agree. When I first started out I was desperate for business so I bent over backwards on the weekends and nights. It gets to be too much. You HAVE to separate business from your personal life sometimes. This is especially true if you have a family.
  7. Customer Mask Requirements

When this started I moved my work tables close to the door as a barrier. This kept everyone a good 6' apart and plenty far from my work area. I have since moved them back. My counter is only 14" deep and it bothers me also to have people "breathing" on my computer. I've ordered a sneeze guard...
  8. Cut vinyl on printed?

That's great to know for future reference! Thank you for the input!
  9. Cut vinyl on printed?

That's great news for my customer! I'm glad this will work out for the customer as he's a new restaurant that had to delay opening due to Covid. Any money savings I can pass on, I'm happy to do so.
  10. Cut vinyl on printed?

I have a customer that ordered an outdoor sign. It's printed and laminated. Now he wants to add a saying on the bottom and asked if I can just add it with cut vinyl instead of re-printing. Of course the sign is double sided and 48" x 65". I've never had this come up before, I'm thinking I should...
  11. Maybe real business advice

I do a lot of texting or FB messaging. Small businesses and younger people especially appreciate the option. There's many customers I've never met in person, only via text or messenger. Text often gets the process started and we proceed with emails for files and proofing. I also choose when I...
  12. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

I think this question might be more appropriate for smaller, personal type jobs. Such as a sign welcoming home a veteran or some type of "off the wall" sign. The guy who wanted me to make him a sign about God comes to mind. He didn't know what it should say but wanted to kindly let people know...
  13. Lighted sign...I think I can do this?

Great, thank you! I should be all set now!
  14. Lighted sign...I think I can do this?

I have to order my prints out...I usually use Signs365. Will that work or do you suggest someone else?
  15. Lighted sign...I think I can do this?

Finally back to this subject. He wants a full color print design. There is clear and white poly, which do you suggest with the full color print? Also, he just wants me to make the sign, he is going to install. I will still say something about the wiring. Is Orajet clear with laminate appropriate...
  16. Business Management - 6/16/2020 - open discussion

I've tried a couple task management programs and a couple other ones I can't remember, free trials only. If I had employees I can see using them. I have a receipt book I use for smaller jobs or I print a "walk in customer" invoice. Yes, can be a pain to record but I can't tell you how often...
  17. Business Management - 6/16/2020 - open discussion

Me too. I tried software but I keep going back to a paper work order on a job box. Maybe it would be different if I had several employees.
  18. Business Management - 6/16/2020 - open discussion

I am always trying to improve my work flow. I am a one person shop. I have plastic job boxes for each job. I have 36 active boxes right now. It's imperative that I have them organized and in "flow" because looking through 36 boxes 7 times a day is NOT an option. If I need something to make my...

I think they are normally spaced???
  20. FB always makes me chuckle

I use a ruler or my eyes...I suppose it's good in theory but a ruler is so much easier.
