Bumper stickers as a wrap? Brilliant!
  5. Accepting Credit Cards

Really? Name ONE major retail business that is using the square. I've never walked in a store and had a cashier reach in their pocket, whip out a cell phone, and tell me they're ready to run my credit card. Never. Never been in a restaurant, gas station, amusement park, or movie theater...
  6. Accepting Credit Cards

My problem has nothing to do with fear of my credit card number being swiped. Heck, i email the number all the time, I'm not worried about it. It's just the perception I have of businesses with no land line, cell phone based credit card processing, homemade paper business cards, VistaPrint...
  7. Accepting Credit Cards

Call me crazy if you want but I'm not letting somebody swipe my credit card info through a cell phone. I know, I know, paranoia.....I'm just not doing it. Just seems really sketchy to me, like retail businesses that don't have a land line and business cards with no physical address on them...

  10. W-9s furnishe to customers...why?

My old accountant would send a W-9 request to everyone I spent money with that I had an address for whether I needed one from them or not. She said it was easier and safer. I never looked into how many actually got sent in. I'm willing to bet that's what's going on.
  11. Price of gasoline, petroleum.. etc.

My Grimco rep told me that the price of coro is going up 12% next week and they're expecting another big jump by summer. Vinyl can't be far behind that. Sure, I'll just pass the costs along to my customer but I'm already charging what I believe my market will bear. If I thought I could easily...
  12. How do you price vinyl?

Ain't that the truth! Look up drafting tubes or blueprint tubes, should be more along the line of what he's looking for. Here's a start. http://www.draftingsteals.com/storage-tubes.html
  14. Would you do this?

Do it, you'll have a ball. Trust me....when you're on a stage, dressed like a woman, with a bunch of guys dressed the same way, the last thing you'll feel is self-conscious. You couldn't pay me to give a speech in front of a crowd but I've still got my Ms. Congenitalia award from a drag show...
  15. How do you price vinyl?

I think he's past that defensive point and actually figuring it out. He's gonna be okay. Of course according to SalmonEgg apparently I'm the one screwed up here. :Big Laugh
  16. How do you price vinyl?

I know it's a pain to figure prices, especially when you're just starting out and until you get your feet under you it's hard to turn down anything (heck, I had two months right after real estate tanked that I would have cut peeing Calvin's if somebody had asked). Honestly, if the market in...
  17. How do you price vinyl?

Your problem is that the question has been answered....and explained....and answered....and explained but you're gonna keep digging until somebody spits out the answer you're looking for. So.... if somebody want's a 1" letter then we charge them 55¢ for the letter. If they want 100 we charge...
  18. How do you price vinyl?

I was going to offer my method of pricing but after reading Fred's I'm a little confused about why we've always priced letters the way we have. Fred's method makes a heck of a lot more sense. A job that small is more of an annoyance than anything else. With Fred's method you're at least...
  19. Freelance design and Merchant Membership

While there are talented exceptions (like Arlo) in the last four years I have never had one of those "designers" have any skills at all. I'd say less than 10 came by with a professional looking portfolio, another couple of dozen who dropped off a resume and a cd and 50 or so who just called...
  20. Companies Move Manufacturing Jobs Back to America

Just curious how he's figuring four times more productive. In China since there is such a large and cheap workforce an unbelievable amount of manufacturing is done by hand. In the United States more and more of our jobs are becoming automated. Think about it, 1 American worker driving a...
