I would do it one piece and do like Gino mentioned put a few lines and keep to them, it shouldn't move up or down on you. If your have another person you can start from one end while the other person rolls it out and matches it to the lines.
Just got an email from one of the suppliers I deal with in China, they are offering me DX4 original heads from Japan for 690.00. If you like I can pass there info along to you.
If it's like banner material like 13oz. Ultra flex or the many other it will stick but if it's a fabric it wont last long at all.

how much does it cost? 9 times out of 10 you wont use it. I would just put the money to the side just in case you do ever need a tech for something serious isures, you will be cheaper off.
If you have a Mimaki JV3 160sp you might want to get at least the 64 inch cutter you will see later on you will need that extra 10 inches of cutting space.
For used equipment try Global garage, they mainly sell printers but I have been seeing cutter/plotters out there now.
I still have my Gerber 4b and it works. When we bought it back in 83-84 it was 10k with a couple of fonts. A couple of years of having it we bought a differnt knife holder and it cut 6 times faster then the original blade. Still works today but don't use it.
