  1. Design-Off #4 Results & Prizes

Super effort by all participants, moderators and prize donors. That was a really cool presentation with that .gif version. Could we get a little more detailed explanation of the creation of that?
  2. Substrate trimmer/cutter

Well, one thing that is designed to be used with flatbed printing these days is the registration cutting feature on routers but that is a whole 'nother thing. As far as the panel saw is concerned, it is a great tool for general cutting of sheet material and I would encourage you to consider it...
  3. CNC router owners.... compressor questions

I think Tom had some very definite opinions about those items...I think you should give him a call.
  4. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

When you turn your machine off, aren't the heads in the capping station? How do you manage to slide the head over like that? How about just sliding the head over when the machine is on, you are in the maintenance mode and you've selected the carriage out command. Then just slide the head over...
  5. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

Could someone please describe in detail how you slide the head over for cleaning in the access area.
  6. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

Do a nozzle wash for 20or40or60+ minutes and do it again if needed.
  7. Die Cut?

I've never tried it myself but I can only imagine that you load the material in the plotter with the liner side up and plot a back slit pattern in the liner. I'm fairly sure you can get that to work but it would take some fine tuning to prevent it from cutting through to the vinyl. As far as die...
  8. media compensation on a mimaki

All good advice so far...my procedure is to originally set the media comp to 0 then only use the feed comp to adjust for banding whenever necessary. Inspect the print when it starts and adjust the feed comp up or down by about 20-30, as described earlier. I find that I don't make many changes...
  9. Opinions Please on Natural Camo

I agree about the yellow leaves, I don't think you should have singular elements with such sharp contrast sot that when tiled, they form a row or column of contrasting elements. Your first post was actually much better in this regard, though looking a little contrived, but better mix of color.
  10. BUMMER... just spent thousands on Enroute for Vista

Doug...When I spoke to Enroute, I mentioned your problem with Vista. They said you should call their tech support and it shouldn't be a problem. You just have to run the program in Administrative mode, or something like that...call them.
  11. BUMMER... just spent thousands on Enroute for Vista

I am still working on it...actually I'm waiting for an answer from Enroute as I type before I make the committment, so that I don't end up in a similar dilema as you. My concern though is not with the operating system, as I only run XP on all my computers, but I haven't gotten a response yet...
  12. If out of ink, can you bypass it?

Also, just a reminder, though now it's probably too late...don't delay replacing the cartridge when you've run out of ink because you will almost certainly clog your lines and/or your print head.
  13. Edge II Cleaning

You can purchase Gerber cleaning pads from any Gerber supplier. If you order any Duracoat cartridges, they come with a cleaning pad. Also, you can use a lint free pad with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, that you possibly can get at a pharmaceutical supplier or electronic supplier, though I never seem to...
  14. Printing Double-Sided Banner on JV3-130SPII... Aneurysm Ensues

I'd love to give you some advice about your problem, but right this moment I'm cramming to get ready to go to Atlantic City for the Signworld Show, so, honestly my best advice for this particular project of yours is to sub it out to one of the merchant members below. Merrit Graphics just had a...
  15. Laminator Questions

The Atlantic City show is definately a good place to see every model, try them first hand and even go home with a good deal if you drove down with a truck. I'll be there too, maybe we'll meet up. This happens every year, only a couple of weeks away from the show but I have a job that requires...
  16. Laminator Questions

Hi Kevin...I'm in the market for a laminator at this time also...too bad we couldn't get a deal if we bought 2! Keep us posted on your progress and what you finally end up doing. You said, "they priced me a Seal 54 for 8,600.00 or a Seal 62 for 6,700.00", I was wondering exactly what models you...
  17. Another Gerber EDGE2 Problem: Overheating

You definately have a unique problem...call Gerber Tech support....that is the only answer here and actually...that isn't a bad answer, I find them to be very helpful and considerate whenever I've had to speak with them.
  18. Banding on a Mimaki JV3

If you have light line banding hit Function - Enter - then the Down Arrow button until you reduce the number by 30. Recheck your print and adjust a little more or less depending on the result. If you have dark line banding hit Function - Enter - then the Up Arrow button until you increase the...
  19. Microsoft Access... anyone using it?

Don't let the CSV reference give you a headache...it's simply one of many forms of data that can be exported from a database for use in other software. You can exchange your data for use in Word mail merges, importing into excel spreadsheets, import into Outlook contact files, etc.
  20. Microsoft Access... anyone using it?

What was said about the robust developer community meant that there is a strong support group, forums, professional developers and free shared developers work available for Filemaker Pro. It is really a fascinating program. Like I said it comes as a blank pallet and you must create files to suit...
