  1. Summa or Graphtec

Epson isn't bad. I'd stick to latex... But honestly they're both good. They both have their benefits and limitations... Neither of which are game breaking though. Stay away from Jaguars... Summa.or graphtec if you want a good plotter. I've never used a jaguar... But I know a window tint...
  2. What's the widest magnetic sheeting available?

What reflective are you going to put on it? We used to do all the Magnets for our provinces insurance broker... We sheeted magnet with diamond grade then screen printed it. Never had any problems whatsoever. Havent tried anything besides DG/EGP, but I doubt any reflective would be an issue.
  3. Need Help Client requesting files

Cokes recipe is their own though. If I paid coke to come up with a recipe for my own brand named soda, and got them to produce it for me... Then decided I wanted to make it a different way / with a different supplier... Whether it's because I wasn't happy with coke, or because I Wanted to sell...
  4. Need Help Client requesting files

Most of our business is with the city, or huge corporations. Lots of our work is contract work for xx years... We don't win every single tenure, or every single term. Sometimes the customer will ask us to send over previous artwork... Whether it's to replace a panel on a vehicle wrap, or to...
  5. Is this a good deal?

Contact bigfish. Not sure if he'll match/beat the price... But buying a machine from an online vendor isn't the best idea. You want someone with a proven track record of support for if / when the machine goes down.
  6. Need Help Client requesting files

You can ignore them. And in the future, I'm sure theyll remember that. Print shops are a dime a dozen. Half of them price themselves so low they'll be out of business in a year or two. They probably found a shop that's 75% of your price, so they used some BS excuse to switch to them. What's...
  7. Summa or Graphtec

How about you, have you run the same cut job on both machines over and over? If not than them being equal is also just your opinion. They use different parts, different technologies... Unless everything is 100% the same, one HAS to be better than the other. Either marginally, or by a long...
  8. HP Latex + Checking optimizer heads

Yes, I know they're cheap - One of the main reasons we got a latex. I've got a 110 at home, and I've had to switch it out once. They're like $130 here... which 1-2 jobs pays for, so it's not a big issue if they're bad. The problem is just knowing which is bad... Nozzle check seems ok on...
  9. HP Latex + Checking optimizer heads

I'll try pulling them when I get back to the office. There has been a few strikes... We just started printing on traffic vinyl and there was a bit of a learning curve finding the sweet spot between wasted media / media jams. That and the leader tape fall off once... Got a bunch of sticky...
  10. HP Latex + Checking optimizer heads

I've been getting a bunch of "potential print quality" issues on our 560. I've ran nozzle prints and it seems to look fine - But now I've noticed there's specs of every color randomly misting in places. The optimizer does seem to have a lot of dropped nozzles on it. Never had a misting...
  11. Latex vs. eco solvent pros and cons???

I've used ij35 to print about 10 8x8s with no tiling issues. Colors matches and everything lined up. I've used it for one 10x10 on ij 40... Same.thing. Recently printed a 4 panel 12 ft by 20ft panel on 180... Too big to lay out and check if everything lines up,but I'll be installing it...
  12. Buying Corel on eBay? Why the price difference?

They're called Grey keys. Software in China/Russia are 1/10 the price... So people buy keys from other countries and resell them here. There's also OEM keys - large companies buy them by the thousands for cheap. Or academic keys... Students end up paying little to nothing for them. While...
  13. S40600 is amazing!

I'm still a big latex supporter, and believe latex is better than solvent in most ways. But I also believe people should have all the information before purchasing a machine. So, just so you know... While you can laminate same day, 3M warranty states you can't apply the material for 12-24 hours...
  14. S40600 is amazing!

Nah, business is great. We got a a paid of 560’s at work now. Already planning on getting the flatbed and replacing our uv flatbed by next year also. Moved away from solvents completely and couldnt be happier.
  15. Question about L360 Latex and Flexi

Not sure I understand... What's wrong with nesting? Everything is still it's own file and it auto fills the space. Why not add your file... Add all the decals, select everything and click nest? Everything will group and print together providing your using the same profile.
  16. S40600 is amazing!

The latex smell is from the vinyl heating, not the inks. When you use a wide variety of media you're bound to get some that smell. For us.. 3M doesn't smell but banners seem to. Avery had a little bit of smell... But nothing compared to our solvent machines.
  17. HP Latex 560 :: Error 98:03

I had the same thing today. All the plots looked fine... First time I've had the issue. There was graininess/random spots missing when printing... but the plots looked fine. tons of cleanings / auto maintenances and still the same. Took out the optomiser printhead... swapped places and the...
  18. Home made Take up reel? Take up Reel hacks?

A take up reel also adds tension so your media is tight and doesn't hit the heater. You could buy a motor and sensor and all that and not have the tension... But why go aftermarket? For the $1000 you get a tension bar... Take up reel, and a second media bar. So if your not using it for the...
  19. Poll / Question..Training your staff.. preferences

As others echoed... We only train people who know our process and have been around for years. We just got a new guy here as our CNC operator. We could send him somewhere to get trained.... Or our current operator can train him on our processes and how we do things. Once / if he proves himself...
  20. bubbles

Dust plays a big part Too. And if the surface isn't perfectly flat... Any imperfections will show and can cause bubbles. Quality of vinyl plays a role in a different way....you can get air egress vinyl where if there is a bubble, you can release.the air and push it out. If there's dust under...
