We use a waste company. We do a lot of screen printing, so we have a big 50 gallon drum we fill with waste ink / solvent / uv ink, and now the evaporator bottle from out latex machine. Once a year they come pick up the drum, and 100s of screen print paint cans. It costs more than kitty...
  2. Vinyl on woods

Youneed a high tac vinyl. For wood. Usually you'd prime the wood /paint it and then vinyl.. There are high tacs out there that work without though. Oracal makes some of the highest tac vinyl we've ever used. We do tons of real estate signs where we just paint the edges white, and apply Oracal...

I did my first install on mulions a couple months ago. New artist designed graphics for our building... It was 12 windows tall. Our unique logo was placed smack dab in the center of 4 WIndows... So it had to go over mulions or itd look dumb. The windows were about 10ft high where the logo...

I don't see the point. The time it took to mask... Apply the special liquid letting it sit for xx minutes... Then spraying... I could be done wrapping two roofs. Only.benefit I could see is if you have a tricky antenna that requires Removing half the vehicle interior to get to.
  7. Temporary Daily Sign Cover Up

If it's only during business hours, and theyre not worried the sign would be stolen... I'd just do Aluminum panel or plastic like this - Easy enough to throw on when they need to or take off. Also easy for a customer to grab it while walking by... But sounds like they only need it during...
  8. Need Help What kind of Vinyl is used for Sandblasting.

Sandblasted is pretty thick. It's more like a foam/elastic material than a vinyl. If by simple vinyl cutter you mean a cricut or Chinese cutter... It.may not be possible. I'd buy a yard.or two before committing to a roll to see your results.
  9. Your Tax Dollars at Work road sign cost

We do tons of signs like this. Most temp 1-2 year signs are done on 4x8s.. Sheeted with 3m reflective, then shipped out to the city where they have their own installers. Their installers are union... And they Make government wages. On the side of a highway they need to drop one of those big...
  10. Bleach, Latex and Eco Solvent inks...........

I can wash away ecosolvent and latex with rubbing alcohol.... Never tried bleach though. You can buy a cheap roll of laminate for $100... There really is no reason to never laminate. Even on the most budget friendly stuff we put laminate on. A non laminated decal is going to rip to shreds on a...
  11. Cleaning Solution

Check the msds.i linked. It's 3 diff.vhemicals... 40/40/20 mixture. You could probably make your own with the list... But it should be cheap. We pay 100ish for 3 bottles. Our flatbed encoder strip gets cleaned with alcohol... Manual actually says to. I try to water it down more than it already...

  13. Need Help Considering HP Latex 115 P&C - some questions/concerns before I pull the trigger

Don't quote me on this.. But I believe siser had a vinyl that was rated for latex, or at the very least everyone said it worked with latex... Then all of a sudden people started to have problems with it. It used to print perfect then it started to print really grainy, and didn't adhere well...
  14. Need Help Considering HP Latex 115 P&C - some questions/concerns before I pull the trigger

The graininess is mainly on solid colors. Anything coming directly for hp will be with perfect settings and conditions... Keep that in mind. I've never got a complaint about graininess... You can see its there from an inch away, but not on most stuff. I like it better than solvents which had...
  15. Alcohol may have damaged paint - looking for suggestions

I was applying something to a window, the door was a weird blue. Sprayed the window with alcohol... And it dropped down and discolored the door. I tried wiping it... Nothing. 16. Can I Laminate UV Inkjet Direct Printed Aluminum?

They're good for short to medium term in laminated. All our real estate signs are UV printed.. they generally last 1-2 years, if the agents don't break them by then. We've printed and laminated with 8518 when our solvent was down... The signs have been up for about a year now with no issues...
  17. Latex 115 substrate curling

My example was using CAD - I always forget most people on here are from USA. I've never used Arlon... Only our small supplier has it. Checking on price of the dpf510 it's $160 a roll. Equivalent to ij35 price for us. My $100 a roll example was meant for cheap housebrands / absolute cheapest...
  18. Latex 115 substrate curling

Cheap vinyl tends to curl. You can slow down the print and turn the heat down to reduce it... but I've found all the cheap $100 a roll medias curl pretty bad. Move up to a brand name polymeric calandered for your cheap stuff... bout $200 a roll instead of $100, but it fixes 99% of the curling...

  20. Finally!

Congrats. Let us know if your excitement dwindled after the 5th revision they request Joking. It's nice to be able to have creative freedom. There are a few customers of ours who I've seen get to revision 15+... But that's what the $10 per revision note is for. Keeps them customers less picky.
