  1. Question Better way for making a template??

https://www.scantastik.com/large-format-scanner.htm Just a sample... but why not buy your own scanner? It's a couple grand, but if you're needing to scan so often that it's becoming an issue... it should be a drop in the bucket from all the wraps your doing. We have one and its great. I'm...
  2. How do you dress at work? Uniforms?

I'm in cargo shorts / pants depending on the heat, and a regular T-shirt. If you're going to a business meeting it's different... out on an install, casual is fine. We wear steel toes to clients that require it - hard hats, safety vests, safety goggles... etc. Most of our installs it's just...
  3. Silly Question ... Spray Bottles

Chemical uys are great, they last a long time. Nozzles are never made great... We have one in our "go bag" that gets banged around and breaks every few months. So we have a dozen or so replacement nozzles for $3-4 we just pop in and it's good to go. The bottles never die, the nozzles just...
  4. HP Scitex FB700 Blues printing purple.

Do you shake your ink boxes every week? Our Cyan looked good when printing the nozzles... but ever remax sign was purple instead of blue. Our tech told us to goto "Replace printhead" and empty the ink lines... shake the box, re-fill the lines... and after 5-6 cleanings, all the nozzles came...
  5. Discussion Why is this so common in most threads concerning costs........................??

Let them. These are the same.companies that won't survive. Yes, when one dies 2 more pop up. But if you do good works you get good clients. I just had someone contact me about some signs. I don't advertise I own my own printer, or try to even sell anything myself. I've had 3 different people...
  6. Need an opinions on this printer

I've printed stuff months apart, fixing panels on vehicles after they had an accident and the colors matched perfectly. I've heard people have odd matching colors when paneling also, but I've never experienced it and latex is one of the go tos for vehicle wraps... so I'm going to presume its...
  7. Remote desktop

I didn't, but I had my credit card tied to them. I suspect thats why they decided to reverse the funds, I threatened to do a chargeback since my CC would protect me and they wouldn't. They threatened me with closing my account... told them for $2000+ I didn't give a shit :D I just found it funny...
  8. Discussion Why is this so common in most threads concerning costs........................??

Same reason you shop at grimco for their $20 house brand coroplast instead of fellers $25 house brand. (Made up numbers). Why pay more if you don't have to? Just because I can source material and produce stuff for cheaper doesn't mean I'm going to sell it to the customer for cheaper...
  9. Shipping Large Masked Graphics

Something not mentioned... Are you using the correct transfer tape? Most are not designed for air egress vinyl. That's why it peels off / the graphics move... There's some that's formulated to work with the air pockets on the air egress liners. It sticks better, not perfect but it does make a...
  10. Remote desktop

I'm a bit iffy with TeamViewer on my work pc tbh. About a year ago I had a few grand charged through my PayPal. PayPal refused to refund it because it came from my browser... Which I thought was odd. I checked.my history and sure enough on that date at 3 am someone went to a bunch of Chinese...
  11. Remote desktop

I use TeamViewer .your supposed to pay if it's work related... But 99% of the time me using TeamViewer is for personal save myself some time and do some files use. LogMeIn is also great.. but again, expensive. Realvnc is less robust... But $40 a year. Tightvnc is on par with realvnc...
  12. 4x8 post and panel install. Concrete or not?

Yes, it's a quick dry concrete . Made for fence posts / sign posts. We use 2 bags per post... Sometimes 3 if we dig deep enough. Each bag is 50lb.. so you're adding about 100lb+ of weight to each post. It helps make sure the sign doesn't shift when the ground gets wet als That said your adding...
  13. 4x8 post and panel install. Concrete or not?

We use rapid post for everything we dig into the ground that's not temporary. https://www.rona.ca/en/rapid-post Adds maybe $20-30 to a sign install and all but guarantees it won't fall over when a group of kids is hanging off of it.
  14. Dry Erase Wall Graphics - Ideas ETC

IIRC vinyl won't stick to dry erase paint. We had one job where we were going over dry erase paint and we ended up having to repaint the wall. Not a huge deal, but I'd do a wall test before giving them a quote. Aslan sells a matte dry erase overlam. Never used it... They're kind of "new" to...
  15. Wrapping a trailer with... nothing

I dont like 3M 1080... Too many glue lines and other issues. Avery gloss is better, as is Vivvids. Vivvid is more thick / easier to work with, especially in heat. https://vvividshop.com/products/gloss-white Ignore the list price... if you open a business acct with them you get around 20%...
  16. Clear Acrylic with Standoffs Corners Cracking

Are you polishing the edges by flaming? I don't know the brand offhand... But one brand we used, we had a bunch come back cracked from different vendors. We'd send them out and they'd look perfect... but over the course of a 1-7 days they'd end up cracking, some all over the edges, some just...
  17. Hp latex 315 or Mimaki cjv150

Yes. They like us to wrap around the doors, so we print front bumper, front door, back door, back bumper, on each side .So 4 pieces, all about 6 ft long each, all join together... No color variation at all. I don't even do the color calibration... Only time I do it is when you put a new ink...
  18. Hp latex 315 or Mimaki cjv150

I've printed about 40 police cars which are close to full wraps. The colors have always been consistent. You only need to run a color calibration every once in awhile, and it should be fine. It's never been an issue for me though.
  19. 10oz banner on HP 360

I go from Latex (At home) To Solvent (At work) And I hate it. I just dumped 4 liters of ink / cleaning solution out of the waste container at work. Lets say it's only 3 liters of ink... Thats about $400 down the drain. Nevermind the smell... How the heads dinged up and they want $4000 per head...
  20. Graphic Tracer

If you login, you can purchase it for $495. Not a bad price... 4 year break even point. When you compare it to other software that does monthly / lifetime, it usually takes 5+ years to break even, and the one time purchase does not include free updates like gtracer does. When comparing to...
