Or how about actually working in layers. Or perhaps I should go on a rant of my own about learning to use the multitude of selection tools Illustrator offers?? If a customer provides you with a logo that has 1000s of objects in it, perhaps you could score thie job of designing one for them...

Drag a "box" around the objects, the background will be selected as well, hold down the shift key and click on the background to deselect it, move the objects to the position you desire.

Example 3 is your best bet. Of the examples shown it most closely resembles what one could consider a "Logo". Myself I would look at it as more of a word-mark with an accompanying icon, which one could argue is a "logo". As for the remarks concerning "ego", I think that was a touch too touchy...

You might try locking your "backgrounds" Select the background and Ctrl+2 to lock Ctrl + Shift +2 to unlock... or get accustomed to working with layers (which IMO is the correct method)

Make sure you lock the printhead and dont unplug it until you are ready to move it, then move it and set it right up and get it running, should be no problem Stace. Finding space is another issue.. cant help ya there..

The blocks Joe... besides that, outstanding, even with that.. Im partial to Flash so the blocks while slightly annoying arent really a stumbling block for me.. :) nice as usual!
