I wouldn't worry about life expectancy of window perf inside. It will last as long as the people using the door don't put their hands on the window to open and close the door. I use 1 Shot clear acrylic spray to seal and protect. Looks a LOT better than the clear lam tape around the edges.

Got it, whew! Snapped back one side at a time. I think I made a bigger mess than I was able to clean!
