Good job, Mike! A lot of vendors don't like to hear the bad, and others have actually become irate after seeing some negative posts. This shows Merritt's accountability.
The way we do it.. when you export the file out (.eps or .tif usually) you can just click on RGB in the drop-down menu.
You can use the same pallettes (we use the Pantone solid coated and the Roland Color pallettes usually).
I'm 100% with Gino. Do not put this printer (or any solvent/eco-sol/mild solvent) printer in your house. Without proper ventilation & filtration you're asking for cancer & other health problems.
There's a great article about solvents in last month's Sign Business mag. I seriously recommend...
The garbage roll thing is a pain..
About six weeks ago, we were under a tight deadline and broke open a new roll of 3951. I couldn't get that thing to print without banding to save my life. Worst banding I'd ever seen! After messing with it for about three hours, I switched to a roll of...
Color. Profiles are a PITA 'til you get them figured out.
Banding. It's usually a function of the profile, but once you figure out how to adjust your feed calibration you'll be okay.
Lamination. You'll ruin more than a few prints as you get the hang of it.
Those are the biggies we...
I'm not familiar with Wasatch, but I doubt it will do halftones. I think Chris Graphixtreme uses Wasatch, so maybe he'll chime in and let us know for sure.
You'll need a program to actually output the halftones. Versaworks will just print gradients, which won't work for screen printing. We use FastRIP and an Epson R1800 exclusively. I think combined it ran $850 or so.
I agree with shovel and hammered.. we have a list of about 60 standard fonts we use. All of them are easy to weed, and read nicely. Anymore than that and you give the customer too many choices and they can't make up their mind. We use many other for logos/custom designs, but the customer...
Just hold down the "Test Print" button on the control panel. If everything is working correctly, you will see four columns of evenly spaced dashes (one for each color). You can also do a test cut by holding down the test cut button.
If everything's working right, I'd buy them all and make a...
I think the difference in view is from "educated" professionals. Since we didn't go to school as long as they did, we're not as good. I truly believe anyone who operates their own business successfully is a professional by its very meaning. I bet I could whip up a nice looking degree to...
Techman is absolutely correct.. The stats don't mean jack. That said, you can run your panther with Cocut.. we run both of ours with Cocut Pro. Go to www.digitalartsolutions.com and ask for Jack Wiley. He'll give ya exactly what you need.
