  1. Help! My Verscamm VP-540 has an error message...

    Too funny!
  2. Coputer hardware pros only

Well, I couldn't disagree more with some of the posts above.. I've got SCSI drives in my workstation, and absolutely love it. My machine is MUCH faster than other similiarly equipped machine (other than the drive setup). My drives and controller cost a little more than $2k, but it's money...
  3. Peachtree or Quickbooks, Which do you prefer?

We've used Peachtree since we started.. used it in a former business, so we were familiar with it. Our previous accountant also supported it. We switched accountants Jan 1, and they prefer QB, so we're in the process of switching now. From what I've seen so far, from a useability...
  4. Would you switch?

I'd have to say that I believe MOST head failures that occur on systems running bulk ink is not a function of the ink causing a failure, but lack of cleaning. Triangle inks are more aggressive than the OEM inks, which means you have to keep up on the cleaning schedule.
  5. Would you switch?

On a job by job basis, it's not a huge amount of money. When you're using just a liter of ink per color, per month (on a six color machine) using 440ml Roland carts, you're going to spend $1759. Using Triangle inks, we spend $654 for the same amount of ink. If you use more ink, you save even...
  6. Would you switch?

We run Triangle inks on both of our machines. It's WAY less expensive than OEM, and it's warrantied through our dealer. Also, Triangle has a very good rep for having a high quality ink. Don't buy into that Magnuson-Moss stuff--that was meant in a totally different context, and Roland's...
  7. Trouble with Versaworks

Corel has issues with exporting .eps files, especially with transparencies. Try creating a bitmap of the image you want (keep a copy for the cutpath if there is one). Then export that file, without the transparencies. Also, if the canvas is large, you might run into issues.
  8. Who's using a Summa with OPOS??

Thanks guys! I'm off to read that tutorial and see if I can streamline things a bit. I've been SERIOUSLY looking at Onyx for awhile now. We're currently running VersaWorks, Cocut Pro & Winplot. From what I've seen, I love Postershop. Tons of great features, but we're trying not to spend too...
  9. vp vs. soljet

I personally wouldn't touch a Mutoh. There are many here who run the heck out of them and don't have any problems, but from what I've seen, they look and feel very "cheap" to me. They ARE very inexpensive machines, which is probably why there are so many of them out there. One of those "get...
  10. vp vs. soljet

XC and XJ are awesome.. Had out XC for about 18 months, and just bought our XJ last month.
  11. Who's using a Summa with OPOS??

Also, we're using Winplot right now, but also have Cocut. Any input as to which is better and why would be appreciated too!
  12. Who's using a Summa with OPOS??

We finally setup our D160, and I'm able to print/cut with it. My question is, do I have to go into the cutter controller everytime I need to cut and set the mark sizes & spacing? What's the best way to handle this? Do you guys create a template file with marks already set and use that?
  13. sp300v can anyone identify this prob

It looks like you may have air in the lines, or are possibly out of ink. Sometimes the carts will run out without registering that they are empty.
  14. How is this Laminator Seal 62 Ultra C, Any one using it?

How the heck do you laminate without a release liner take up? Do you roll it by hand??
  15. Hooked up w/ a Photographer...NOW WHAT!

Just make sure his expectations aren't too high and you'll be fine.
  16. Hooked up w/ a Photographer...NOW WHAT!

Good luck with that! I'd just tell him there's a definite color shift due to the fact you're printing on different media. Heck, your prints on the fathead stuff won't even match the canvas!
  17. Printer Droping ink

It's getting dirty while printing. We have ours set to clean automatically every 45 minutes.
  18. Hooked up w/ a Photographer...NOW WHAT!

Water based inks have a wider color gamut.. The Canons are pretty cheap too--in the $5k range.
  19. Hooked up w/ a Photographer...NOW WHAT!

Profiling.. and probably a new printer. :) We don't do much of this for that reason. Most high quality photo reproduction is done using water based machines (Epsons and Canons). That said, you should be able to get pretty close to what they want, but I'd say some professional profiling...
  20. How do I cut colors separately using D160/winplot?

    Just figured it out!
