  1. Where you buying plotter blades?

Looks like cleancutblade.com gets the vote. Thanks guys!
  2. Crop mark or Lamination?

It sounds to me like a setting was getting changed in between print/cut. Even changing the width or moving the pinch rollers can *sometimes* throw things off. Whatever you do, you definitely don't want to make any changes that will cause you to reRIP the file.
  3. Where you buying plotter blades?

We weren't happy with the life from our Roland brand blades we bought from our printer supplier, and used to buy the generic ones from SW, but something there must've changed because we used to get 2+ months out of a blade before.. the last batch of five we bought started breaking the tips off...
  4. xc-540 color problem

If you look at the manual that came with the printer, and look at the cleaning section, you should see a diagram with all of the parts people are referring to mentioned. Head soaks are not something Roland wants the end user doing, and honestly, you probably don't even need to do one. Here's...
  5. xc-540 color problem

Hold down the test print button and tell us what it looks like.
  6. Wide format ecosolve for screen print positives?

I've heard of people using 3M 220 series film, as it has a clear backer. You can cut it out, and not tape it. Use that as your positive. Of course that won't work for halftones, but it should work fine for solid prints.
  7. Our Summa D160 is in slow motion..

All right.. think we figured this one out. It appears that the cutter is weighing the material when it loads, and because the static cling we're trying to cut has so much drag against the plotter and the roll of media behind the machine, it thinks it's heavier than it is, and slows the whole...
  8. Our Summa D160 is in slow motion..

I don't even think the problem has anything to do with the computer or winplot. When loading the vinyl, I can tell if it's going to cut fast or slow based on how it returns to the origin. It'll either haul ass back there or poke. That shows how it's going to cut, and that's before even...
  9. Our Summa D160 is in slow motion..

Only sending 40 at a time.. Very simple vectors, nothing fancy. I called Summa and they don't know.. While i was on the phone with them, I loaded some 48" regular vinyl and it cut fast as it should. When I reloaded the printed vinyl, it went slow again. :banghead:
  10. Our Summa D160 is in slow motion..

It's a pretty new machine, and we don't use it much for contour cutting, so I'm not sure if it's new or not. First time I've noticed it. It's connected via USB, and the contour is only a rectangle with rounded corners. The thing that puzzles me is that sometimes it cuts fast, and sometimes slow.
  11. Our Summa D160 is in slow motion..

Nobody else ever see this problem??
  12. Our Summa D160 is in slow motion..

I've got an order for 3,000 decals we're trying to finish today, but I can't get our cutter to speed up. We're running Winplot, and doing contour cutting using the OPOS. It's set to max speed (800mm/sec) using the Summa Cutter Control and it shows 32 IPS on the plotter LCD. But, it's cutting...
  13. Computer Rip Station Question

It really depends on your workflow. We use some very basic (2gb ram, 2.4ghz core2duo RAID 0) computers for our RIP stations. As slow as they are, the printer is slower. As long as you keep them pretty busy, and can RIP one file while outputting another, you can save a few bucks here. If...
  14. External hard drive

Oh, and we only use Seagate drives. Haven't had any drive failures yet.. <knock knock knock>
  15. External hard drive

We used to use external drives for backups, but had lots of problems with them.. mainly USB issues (naming it a different drive letter if you have another USB device plugged in or something) and power supply failures. Since then, we've switched to using removeable hard drives and they work...
  16. Wrap Industry… Your Thoughts?

I don't believe wraps are a fad, but I do believe the wrap industry is going through some major changes. With the proliferation of equipment and materials, along with the popularity of wraps, the market is becoming flooded with unqualified "experts" offering sub-standard work (both design &...
  17. SP300 USB Problem

Are you plugged into the same USB port as before? I know sometimes the computers will think it's a different device if you move the cable to a different port.
  18. probem printing PMS colors

RolandColor is something Roland came up with about 18 months or so ago. It allows you to print a color chip chart with specially named colors. You can then use these named colors in your design program (Corel & Illy both work, not sure about others) to hit the colors exactly. It takes...
  19. The most fun we've had with a wrap yet!!

Have a nice trip, Tristan! You deserve it!
  20. probem printing PMS colors

Not sure if the 300v was included with the RIPC updates, but we noticed a definite color shift using the newer profiles. Are you working in vector or raster? If you're using vector, use RolandColor. If you're using raster, try printing a PMS chart. Of course, the colors won't match, but you...
