  3. How much power does a rip need?

Our RIP stations are very inexpensive, slow machines. They cost less than $600 each, including monitors. With VW, you can "RIP while printing" which will start RIPping the file immediately, and printing immediately. No matter how slow your computer is, the printer will always be slower...
  4. Summa D60

We started with a pair of panthers from SW, which we thought ran great. Occasionally they would mis-track, but for the most part they are great (still use them today). But, we bought a D160 and WOW! Like Pat said, that thing tracks like it's on rails. Another vote for the Summa!
  5. CS4 is available!

That's the thing.. they're not equally equipped. My 32 bit system has SCSI drives while the other two 64 bit systems are running SATA drives. They are all running RAID 5 for the operating system, and RAID 0 for the swap/scratch drive. All three systems have 4GB of RAM.
  6. CS4 is available!

Is CS3 supported on XP64? We've got two machines running it without any problems. They're not as fast as my setup running XP32 (with SCSI drives), even though they take advantage of the extra RAM.
  7. CS4 is available!

Casey, do you think it will run comparatively on WinXP Pro 64bit?
  8. FYI... VersaWorks 3.0 is available

Heh.. reminds me of the time my brother spent an hour playing in Corel because VW wasn't recognizing his cut path.. It was on a red graphic. The dancing ants were there afterall, just couldn't see them on the red graphic. :)

  10. Need to Vent

That was a big concern with our printer tech, but we haven't had any issues so far. The fan was the highest flowing that I could find at Home Depot, but you can't really feel anything pulling in at the front or rear of the printer. You can feel (and REALLY smell) it at the exhaust side...
  11. Need to Vent

On our XC540, we cut two 4" holes in the back side of the main cover and attached plastic flanges for dryer duct. Both of those ducts run to a T and the fan actually sits right over where the ink carts are. From there it goes straight out the roof. All parts were purchased at Home Depot for...
  12. Designing, CMYK or RGB?

We find much better results designing in RGB.. ESPECIALLY with Corel. CMYK exports from Corel give very muted, washed out prints.

The periodic cleaning seems to have been turned on.. You should be able to turn it off by going to the sub menu/periodic cleaning and just press down until it shows off.
  19. how do i make contour cut lines in photoshop?

I was gonna suggest what Jamie did.. The only problem with that is the paths generated by photoshop are usually very jagged. You can smooth them out a bit using the smooth command under select/modify, but it's still pretty rough. Creating your text in illi or corel and placing that data into...
  20. Where you buying plotter blades?

We got our blades from clean cut last week, and all I can say is WOW! We had to back off the pressure from 165g to 105g to keep from cutting through the paper.. No idea how long they'll last yet, but they sure are sharp.
