Take a look in the HP forum topic. If you can find a used 5500 in good condition you could be in good shape for not to many bucks. For indoor posters it's a winner.
However, if you're planning on expanding your product line with outdoor vinyl or banners, than it's time to look into a decent...
We screen print these occasionally and use an aluminum foil product from Tekra.
TKPSA MATTE ALUM FOIL 90#
We purchase 20" x 27" sheets and most of our customers actually imprint them with a good old fashioned typewrite although you can do it with a pen easily too.
You've got yourself a nice printer for that price. Just remember that "UV" designation is not UV curable inks but pigmented aqueous inks that are pretty UV stable. There's a recent post on this HP topic that I've shown a job trailer with printed graphics from this printer. The colors are good...
We do it quite often. Have a plumbing customer who has copper pipes as part of his logo.
We mix gold flake in clear and ad a tad bit of orange toner, which is transparent, and it prints and lasts just fine.
You really need to do allot more research pholthep. The resolution issue is a non-issue and no one is going to look at a print and tell the difference between the two.
You are looking at two totally different printers in every way. The 5100 is an aqueous INDOOR printer only. Short term...
I had a curtomer stop in with a trailer that I lettered and printed graphics for in August of 06. I hadn't seen the rig since I lettered it. I printed his photos on my old HP5000 and laminated them. He was a good customer and we did this as a test job so if it went to crap early I'd replace them...
I have a whole stack of precut brick mold that I picked up at Goodwill years ago to make
print screens. Now that all my frames are aluminum I've been using it for gallery wraps. It's the perfect profile and it's pre primed to boot.
There are some great tutorials on Layers TV and Adobe TV, and the price is right also.
I am also a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. It's $100 a year for their magazine subscription and full access to their website with all the tutorials and forums. Not cheap but a...
I'm running a Graphtec 7000 on my MacPro via Illustrator and Cutting Master from Graphtec. Runs great for just cutting vinyl and also prints from my HP9000s.
I running Posterjet RIP through Parallels on the same Mac. Works great too if you can call anything on windows as great. The only reason...
I generally have to change an object to a specific size. Say I have a 9" x 3.3" selection that I need to take down to 4.3" x ?.
With the object selected, open the transform pallet, which will show you the dimension of the selection. Change the 9" to the 4.3, hit command/return, (mac keyboard)...
Check out some of the screen printing forums and you can probably find one. A friend of mine here in Michigan has a large rack for sale but shipping might be a bit crazy. If you're interested, contact me and I'll hook you up.
Fatboy,
I had a customer in here last week. He owns a company that injection molds medical tube connectors and an array of other products. Anyway, he pulled out his iPhone and proceeded to show me views from all of his security cameras and also cameras focused
on his equipment which was running...
I use both GSP and Apex, which is Advantage's private label. I use Apex UV Guard on just about all my long term outdoor decals and the longevity seems very good. At least nothing's ever come back because of fading.
The only problem I've had is Apex's Flood coat white doesn't transfer well on the...
Both my production Mac's connected 24/7. Have been since my first Macintosh Ci back in 89. I will not do any internet anything from my Parallels/XP work space though.
