  1. Edge ready Cast material

Ditto what Fred said. I even jump to the 225 series with the plastic instead of paper liner. It's great for cutting very small items after printing, well worth the extra cost.
  2. Jexar 10oz Water Fast Scrim Banner with HP5500ps UV Ink

If it's not drying, you may be printing the wrong side of the stock.
  3. Laminator poll

Here's a couple my wife just shot. The laminator itself is the blue frame. I built the off and on tables which fold down if I need any extra shop space.
  4. Laminator poll

I have a 51" laminator with a hand crank. It looks like a long ringer washer rig. I paid $300 for it and wouldn't trade it for a $7,000 Seal. It's fast and easy to use and most of my jobs are way less than 8' but I have applied full size prints to 4x10's too.
  5. .oo5" lexEdge

rudeez. Wow, you have enough cutting control to cut through the lex AND the poly and still leave the liner intact? I don't know if I could pull that off with my GsxPlus. As it is, I'm cutting 4 passes at about 4-5 in pressure and still have to bend and crack them out. The adhesive I use is...
  6. .oo5" lexEdge

I'm missing something here. The labels that I'm doing have either two holes or a small "viewing window" for an LCD screen in them. Once printed, I laminate an adhesive with a clear poly liner on it. The registration mark is easily visable and I cut them from the "back" side or print side...
  7. .oo5" lexEdge

We reverse print and than laminate a high tack adhesive to the print side of these. Our adhesive has a transparent carrier so we can cut the labels, which include holes and knock outs, from the back side on the GsX plus. I'm not sure that we could pull it off with the lex laminate but I'll...
  8. .oo5" lexEdge

As you probably know, Gerber dropped the 5 mil LexEdge from their product line a few years ago. Fortunately, Graphic Marking Systems picked it up and has been selling it since than. Now, they also have discontinued the product. I have one customer that I have been doing 4 or 5 different lexEdge...
  9. Anybody do any type of doming?

Yep, we use the two part mixers. They work fine it seems as long as you push a bit through before you start doing your real decals.
  10. Anybody do any type of doming?

I've been using Diamond Cote from Advantage Sign Supply. The finished pieces are reasonably flexible and seem to have no problem adhering to a gentle curve. The only "sticky" issue is the very beginning and end of a tube where the resins are not fully mixed. There's always a few throw a ways...
  11. Seiko 64s hmmmm

Actually, you can probably fix that in the head alignment menu. The trouble is, the manual is almost useless. The information is there but choosing which test pattern to print and adjust too is not fully explained. I would do some searching before I loosened any screws.
  12. Versaworks turns points into stubs

Can you post a pic of the problem? I don't understand why an offset path wouldn't give you your cutline. What am I missing?
  13. Versaworks turns points into stubs

Expand the paths and that will outline the strokes in Illy instead of leafing them as a stroke which Versa works seems to be misinterpreting.
  14. Ripping on a MAC - what software you using?

I started using PosterJet about 8 years ago for my HP5000. It was a genuine Mac RIP and worked well on my Powerbook believe it or not. It was very fast and printed anything I threw at it. I had to "upgrade" when I bought my HP9000s and the Mac version of PJ wasn't finished yet. I bought a...
  15. Cutting issues with Graphtec FC8000

I don't know what your problem is with the gloss but my FC7000-100 never misses a blip. Gloss Oracal plain or with 290 gloss laminate. A few weeks ago we ran two full rolls of Oracal 3164. I'd printed sheets of 30 stickers, 5 at a time. I liked up the first mark and off it went until all 5...
  16. Newbie Question about Material

What brand of metallic are you attempting to print on? We print on HP Arlon and Gerber's metallic silver all the time without issue.
  17. Cutting Master 2 out of Illustrator CS3

I'm running v2.1.5 on my Mac just fine for a few years now. No problems at all.
  18. Hi from Michigan

Welcome from "up north". Traverse City to be exact.
  19. FC7000 Contour cut

First load the printed vinyl making sure it is as square to the plotter as possible. I actually press my thumbnails on the registration marks and move the vinyl until both ends drop in the groove on the plotter bed. Close the clamp and let the plotter register the vinyl width. Next, using the...
  20. cutting master rewind

I'm running Illy CS3 on my Mac pro. Rightnow I have a rather large decal job that I'm printing in sets of 28 up per sheet using 4 corner registrations set with CM in Illy. I print them 5 sheets up on my HP9000 and than register and cut them on my FC7000-100. That all works fine but what's...
