check to see if card is properly aligned on ink cartridge? its been years but in the past i have either asked for replacements from my supplier, either the whole cartridge or just the smart chip card, and sometimes the card was slightly misaligned on the cartridge straightening it solved it.

i dont know if its the same in X3 but i do it in corel 11 with print merge and imposition layout. we also have a vb macro called nametagcreator and serial namer that work well.
