  1. Illustrator crashed while saving file

it was probably doing you a favor
  2. Let me have it both barrels please

When i started reading this thread, i tried to give Addie the benefit of the doubt and believe he was trying to hone his design skills, but as I got to the end and he still wasn't listening to the great advice given to him, I realized he is trolling for attention. All the designs you posted...
  3. Thoughts on purchasing sign shop w/ older Gerber equipment

All edges make wierd sounds, a better test is to print a solid 12'x12" square of a dark colour and another square with a 0-100% fade
  4. Architects should start out as signguys...

I'm just ranting a bit, I always make sure to tell all my customers that their signs might not meet code. It's difficult here because we don't have actual laws in place for directional signage for people with disabilities, we just use the ADA specs, so from a legal point of view, these signs...
  5. Architects should start out as signguys...

No they need to be all caps here as well, the braille should also be grade 2, but who am I to tell the architect how to do his job.
  6. Architects should start out as signguys...

Just got this today from an Architect, not sure where i'm going to get 10 mm thick polished stainless steel for a small interior washroom sign, or how i'm going to drill the braille beads into it :banghead::banghead:
  7. The cure for cheap Real Estate Agents

but now the mustaches and horns I draw on all their photos will just wipe right off!! On a side note, does anyone know why agents feel the need to put their photos on their signs? I can see the attractive one, but I don't want to look at some 400 pound bald guy.
  8. Print, Laminate, then cut line up?

We tell people that we don't laminate anything that can't be re-printed. We had someone bring in some "artwork" they made that had 20 or so staples in the paper, and she couldn't understand why I wouldn't run it through our $7000 machine lol!
  9. edges lifting on prints after just 3 weeks????

I've printed right to the edge on lots of calendered films (including Oracal) before with no issues, both on some vehicles and on standard sign substrates, never had the edges curl up. did you use the correct laminate for the vinyl? aside from that, I would guess you have a faulty roll of vinyl.
  10. Sign Changes For Customer

i think the dry erase idea was a joke... If you are concerned with the acrylic getting worn out using screws, why not use a threaded insert and 2 bolts to hold the acrylic sign on?
  11. Fitted T-shirts?

tell them that no one wants to see a fat middle aged man in a fitted shirt lol!
  12. Client requested black PVC - Here's what I've come up with

What about painting standard wood 4x4's with black paint? I'd be more concerned with the 0.25" pvc that the sign is made from, especially between 2 posts, i can't see that holding up well.
  13. Ed Hardy Artwork

I love Ed Hardy and Tapout, it's a real time saver for me to be able to distinguish that someone is a total douche before I waste valuable seconds talking to them and figuring it out for myself.
  14. Box Truck "wrap"

I've never used knifeless tape, but my understanding is that it's a very similar product, however the wrapcut tape is about 1/4 of the price, plus it's manufactured about 300 km's away from me, so it's nice to support a local business with a great product.
  15. Box Truck "wrap"

Thanks guys! Dan, yes they are a chain of greenhouses in the area, they are very well known around here as they have very aggressive marketing, if you say "I'm going to Terra" pretty much everyone will know what you are saying. Colorado, thanks for the advice, I don't plan on getting into...
  16. Does anyone get free shipping on their Banner Materials?

very rarely do we get free shipping here, Proveer is free on orders over $300 i think, but you have to remind them half the time, and TCT is $5 flat rate shipping on orders over $75, which is nice, the flat rate shipping is definitely influential when i have a choice between 2 vendors, or when...
  17. Box Truck "wrap"

We just finished 3 of these for a local greenhouse chain. Customer designed the entire thing. We printed on General Formulations Automark material and laminated with the matching laminate. For this application, the Automark worked great! very easy to apply, went down nicely. The "gloss"...
  18. Should I bother with this risky job?

I would pass on the job and sleep better at night.
  19. WOW it is actually working!

  20. Need some inspiration: Electric Company Designs

LOL we have an electrician client that uses that EXACT image as their "logo" I always assumed it was from some crappy clipart book from the early 90's, now I know.
