I was a beta tester for MI back in 99 and have been using it ever since. From the best unmentioned sources I can quote, MI will not be updated to any new version. Right now it's "stuck" in Illustrator 10 which i am running in OS 10.4.11. I don't know if it will run in Leopard but I think not...

We reverse print on clear .008" lexan which is than laminated to a white backing sheet for trade show graphics. I'd think that this would be a very durable way to handle skateboards.

The bad stuff you've read, believe it and run. There's a reason you can find them cheap. Look for a used Gerber Edge if you think you need thermal transfer or look for a smaller solvent inkjet.

I have a 5000 in my shop with both the dye and pigmented inksets. I have not been able to get an opaque enough print for a positive and you definitely can't do dye sub on them. Short term interior is it so if your into POP stuff go for it. Remember, it's only a $3K printer brand spanking new.

Your siding isn't an awning. If your going to attempt this listen to GraphiX and use high performance cast. Also, use a rivet brush and heat and work that vinyl into the texture. 5 minutes on a wall isn't two years on a flexible awning in the sun.
