Had our local monument shop do the blasting. They used something called stone blast. Project turned out great.
May want to check into the health risks associated with whatever media you choose. I have a small glass bead cabinet in the shop that I switched over to Black Blast. Glass beads...
As stated in my how to I use a perfectly square lead edge for reference. Pin hole is just for base point reference. Our methods differ, but the outcome is the same.
Wipe down with 90% IPA and a microfiber cloth. I got some crap banner and had the same issue until I started cleaning it with IPA. Without the wipe down it would fisheye like you can't imagine.
This is how we do them on our SP540V
Make sure lead edge of banner is perfectly square to the edges before you do anything. This is your alignment reference.
Load material square in printer
Print first side
Take a pin and poke hole in left corner on lead edge of print
Flip print over, square up...
Our SP540V is running well without any major issues. Print quality is great, even gradients. In the last two months it has printed 5 full rolls of cast material. Roughly 229 meters in length. Banners and calendared material were also printed during that time. It is a slow printer though...

Now my question is what is the designed life of the printer? How many square meters...
Yikes! Three rigs down and one is brand new. Makes me wonder about the overall build quality and QC process.
Now for somethng completely different: Are you still going to get the Colorado 1640?
What I found with my RS is you have to load the material perfectly. Lead edge has to be perpendicular to the sides. If it isn't you need to trim it. Close isn't good enough. I also tape the lead edge for alignment purposes. I've written about this on several occasions.

Static clings are not the easiest to use. I used to make and sell kits years ago. When the boards came out even I switched over.
Not sure if this will help, but here's what I know. We've had our Summa D140R about a month and are really impressed with the contour cutting. First run after setup was graphics for four box trucks and 400 equipment decals. Can't count all the other jobs we've run. Only one error and that...
