I like one stop shopping. LOL. Like I said in a previous post I'll give WinPlot a go, but I can already hear the little voices telling me to bite the bullet and upgrade my Flexi Pro.
I am one guy and up to my neck in work. If I can save a minute or two per file that will be huge at the end of...
I didn't know the cut files need to be .eps. Thanks for the .eps tip I'm going to redo a large file I set-up yesterday. I guess I'll give WinPlot an honest try. Problem is I got so used to setting up a file in Illustrator with CutContour then letting VW add the reg marks.
Our Summa D140R arrives tomorrow and I have a ton of print/lam/cut jobs waiting. One of them is an order of 400 equipment decals. I need user feedback on the easiest to use print/cut software. Not real thrilled with having to generate one file for printing and another for cutting. Seems like...
Lettered a sailboat Saturday with Gerber 3M 220. Client wanted the same material I used on his friends boat. IMO usually any cast material will work great. Used Arlon cast products for years with no issues.
This^^^
If the client insists put cast vinyl underneath the chrome. At some point you'll have to remove it. I used to d a fleet of tow trucks with chrome lettering and used black vinyl for the backing and outline.
Here's something and old sign guy told me, "Mirrors only reflect dark not light." Chrome on dark may create issues with visibility.
I went against his advice, did what the client wanted, and put chrome lettering on a black truck. Sounded good in theory. Client was happy, but it was...
It was variable. Sometimes one mode would be OK then not. Full failure was when it stair stepped, but prior to that it made random light spots and banding.
Not sure if that answers your question.
Yes, I actually read the complete article. I've also been around enough years and through rebrands/mergers to know that nothing is written in stone. It will be interesting to see market response to the new name.
As long as the cutters stay the same a Summa/Airmark is on the equipment list.
My SP540V was having banding issues among other things. Tech said it was the head. I posted pics of the issue and VanderJ said encoder reader. Less than 40 bucks later it prints like a champ again.
So now you know.
Hi Gino,
Yes the question was directed towards you. Now that I know lead is in the product I need an alternative. Never realized that lead was in Sintra. I use a generic version my supplier calls foam-pvc, which I'm sure is chock full of the stuff. Made tons of signs with it over the...
Just read this while looking for a Summa dealer. Summa is going back to the original Airmark brand.
Wonder if the product itself will change, or business as usual?
Summa Inc. Announces Rebranding Plans
You don't need a fast computer. Our main rig for VW is closing in on ten years old and uses XP. Runs it just fine. What will slow it down is having a ton of jobs in the queue, which has been our experience.
Something else you may want to check. On our system VW will open and try to run in...
