  1. Starting with a black and white logo

Always always start in black and white, like you have shown. Yours stands alone very strongly in just black and white. No amount of tarting up can fix a poor logo. Hopefully some people will "get it" by reading this informative example, Joe. The rest will just keep on fillin' and distortin'...
  2. Would you do this?

:goodpost: I say go for it! It takes a real man to have the b@lls to dress in drag. Love....Jill
  3. Board with Coffee

Did you mean "bored"? I thought this referred to using coffee on a board. I think it looks more like some sea creature than a bumhole, OP. Love....Jill
  4. thoughts

I immediately thought of SS/Nazi as well. I'd scrap that and not use initials as an icon at all. Try an upper/lower case for Spencer with SIGNS in all caps tucked underneath it. Love....Jill
  5. new logo

Great idea. Play down the name play up what you do. Big improvement! Love....Jill
  6. Pricing Book?

I've used this for many years. It tends to run a little high for my area but as a whole it's reliable. I also use the one you get free for subscribing to Signcraft. Love....Jill
  7. Old Texaco?

We have the same truck, my ex hub found it in a barn. Don't mess with it, you will totally destroy the value. Love....Jill

....I think he had his logo designed there. :) Love....Jill
  9. Help please

Yup! You can cut straight from Corel, as well. It's nice for designing and exporting. You can also do some really great mock-ups with it. Love....Jill
  10. Brush Question - Waterbased paint

    You'd need a different brush. Don't ruin your quills. http://www.tcpglobal.com/mackbrushes/macwater.aspx Love....Jill
  11. What should I charge?

There's someone in my neck of the woods who would do that for less than $150. :) Love....Jill
  12. Critque?

I'm really glad you appreciated my taking a few minutes to mock up a suggestion for you. I now realize that you have to be joeslawn, a member who I felt should have been deleted long ago. I'm going to go back and see if I can remove my attachment from the other page.
  13. Ready to hire a designer

:) I have 27 years sign experience, only about 14 with computery stuff, and just 8 years of Corel. But I do OK and I think I'm affordable. Basic layouts are my forté. There are also some other really good guys on here like Neato and John Deaton. Love...Jill
  14. let me tell you about the first 2/3 of my day today

Sounds like an episode right out of my own life. Hey you got it done though and it looks good. Make sure not to take Advil on an empty stomach. I take 4 after a day like that, ladders just kill me anymore and I'm still 5 months shy of my 50th. Love....Jill
  15. Little League Banners with a before and after.

Bob can probably design each of these things in 15 minutes tops. He probably gets a lot of enjoyment out of polishing all those turds, so it's worth it to him. I like doing jobs like this too, when I can get them. Usually the person whose name is on the banner calls later on wanting me to email...
  16. Are we really in a recession???

I actually live in Mars and you all know how dead my economy is here. I do hope you get that big job, Bob! Love....Jill
  17. Why does coffee in cafes taste 100x better than at home?

I loathe Star*ucks coffee. Dunkin' Donuts is good, and Tim Horton's is too. Last week I tried regular old store brand (Giant Eagle) Columbian coffee and even with my icky well water it was awesome. I always use fat free half-n-half, my one luxury. Maybe cafe coffee is better to you because you...
  18. Critque?

I think it looks like you scrolled through some fonts to find the Jazziest one. But that's not jazzy it's cheesy. I think of barbed wire, too. Try using two different fonts, one for each word.
  19. - parents beware

I have been thinking about that poor little girl all day. I rarely ever served my kids hot dogs and if I did, I cut them into the size of peas. I do not think hot dogs should be served at school, not only are they a choking hazard but they have no nutritional value whatsoever. I worry because...
  20. Need some Avery samples.

Can't you talk them into SignGold or Oracal's gold leaf looking stuff? Love....Jill PS Sounds like this may be a picky customer, and they will be p!ssed when the Avery turns black or shrinks.
